"Why do you go by the handle you do?"
I came up with this handle in my 30s as a replacement for the one I'd been using since middle school. I was aiming for the intersection of "magical, pastoral, feminine" and "just some weird little guy."

When I was a kid, like early double digits age, I came up with "Alexandra Erin" as a pen name I would use sometimes as a writer, so I could write books about characters who were girls, that might be read by girls, without getting pigeonholed, a super real problem I was definitely worried about.
I also had to replace at some point a handle I'd been using for decades (because it was already taken on tumblr, I think), and after not being able to think of anything for a while I thought of the way Horatio describes Ophelia's madness in Hamlet: "She is importunate, indeed distract."

This is entirely true on so many levels I don't think I could possibly detail it exhaustively, but you really can't oppose trans people's human rights and still have freedom of expression and bodily autonomy, the idea that people are entitled to self determination goes right out the window....

Every once in a while I quietly hallucinate the taste of a combo B from the Vietnamese food court place in Lonsdale Quay circa 2000 or so. A comfort meal I have never found even an approximate replacement for.

As long as people are wishing for things, I think a good step for the Canadian government to take would be to introduce some kind of policy of specially allowed entry and/or asylum for transgender U.S. citizens who are being denied passports and are therefore effectively trapped in the country
