In the interest of combating creeping fascism in the US, I'd like to remind folks to read (or re-read) our founding documents: primarily the US Constitution, but also the Declaration of Independence.

Here's a link to the Constitution: www.archives.gov/founding-doc...

THIS. This is exactly what I'm saying, in a different way. He's all about *the show*, not the substance. He puts on a song & dance so all eyes are on him.
Trump will absolutely be won over by enthusiasm and energy and believing in something. he's a musicals guy. he's a showman.

So with the various snippets going around about Trump & how he's being with Mamdani at the mayor-elect's visit, how he's "OK" with being called a fascist & went to dig FDR's portrait "out of the vaults": it's important to remember that he isn't really changing his position.

He doesn't have any.

An #ADHD tip that has saved my bacon more than once: if you put together a thing for your house (like furniture, brackets, curtain rods, that sort of thing), & you end up with a) extra parts &/or b) tools that came with it (like the ubiquitous Ikea Allen wrench), DO NOT SEPARATE THEM.
November 21, 2025 at 9:41 PM
Y'know what's a weird thing I learned recently about #ADHD?

ADHD-wired brains crave stimulation, right? So for a lot of us, coming up with ideas for a project is enough stimulation to satisfy our brains. & we don't actually *do* the project, because *thinking about it* was enough.

WTF, brain.

Have y'ever read the Declaration of Independence?

I'mma bet plenty of folks on this here platform probably have; we're a pretty politically savvy bunch.

I mention it bc it's a pretty goddamn treasonous document.

Kinda wild how often I catch myself holding my breath with my shoulders up towards my ears. Life is tense, y'all.

Lysol is basically like Axe body spray for your house.

Been spraying down the outside of our couch cushions & holy shit, this stuff does not smell like I remember it did when I was a kid.

Welp, I have a couch to clean, y'all. I gotta get moving. Later gators. 🐊

Sooooo I guess we know what his prison nickname would be.

There's a very judgmental junco sitting out on my garden barrier wanting to know why the feeders are empty.

YUUUUUUUP.

That men sit by and just let other men do this shit is a HUGE reason misogyny is still rampant in the world. "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." --Not Actually Thomas Jefferson

I wonder if Lindsey Graham comes up in the Epstein files at all.

Speaking of, haven't heard much from Lady G for awhile. What's he been up to? Do I want to know? I probably don't want to know. Same for McConnell.
November 18, 2025 at 9:38 PM
OK, this shit with Marjorie Taylor Greene is really fuckin' weird.

Same with Bobo voting to release the files.

I mean, I wondered if there was a line anyone on the MAGA side of the aisle wouldn't cross, & I guess for some, there is.

Still weird to see.

Well, so far I'm getting amounts for health care plans through the state ACA market thingy between $837 and $1377 or so.

My most essential medication isn't covered, but nobody covers it, so that isn't a surprise. (I get it through Costco for cheap.)

On the rodent front, we're making progress. Some guys are supposed to remove the Sexy Couch today, since apparently my house mice have great style when it comes to choosing their living accommodations.

Bit of a bummer: I'd hoped to donate it to a local theater or something.
November 18, 2025 at 5:47 PM
So here's a thing about the ACA rate increases: I just got laid off. I qualify for COBRA, & have the chance to continue the coverage I had under my job, if I pick up the full amount it cost the company I worked for.

This... does not look comfortable.

It looks like the kind of armchair you have around to make sure guests don't stay very long.

Pfft... somebody elsenet just accused me of "[forgetting] about leaded gasoline" as a cause of lead exposure, after I posted a link to an article... about leaded gasoline as a cause of lead exposure.

*sigh* It's the little things.

Right, so I don't even want to talk about dealing with the mice right now. So I won't.
November 18, 2025 at 12:33 AM
Yeah so today I'm a) dealing with an infestation of mice in my house, & b) a shit-ton of embarrassment at what a trainwreck my past relationships have been. (Yeah, pretty much all of them.)

Movie night with the S.O. Revisiting a lot of 80s faves of late. Tonight it's "Young Sherlock Holmes". Seeing it now it dawns on me that is basically the GenX older sibling of Harry Potter.

Well, my feet are cold, heart rate still jittery, I'm soaked in flop sweat, but I finished the interview.

It went OK. I answered questions intelligently, but I talked too much.

Y'know one thing that's shitty about Mike Johnson?

Yeah, I know there's WAY more than just one thing, but bear with me here...

When he's behaving himself, he seems benign. Very boy-next-door in speech, dress, mannerisms, looks. It's a highly deceptive image.

I would like anyone who suggests something like this to be classified into said high-risk pool permanently.
Tom Emmer: "You're gonna have to create high risk pools again. Just go back where Minnesota was before the ACA."
