"...said the museums and cultural organizations in the park support expanding access by any mode of transportation. But he said currently, cars are still the best option for most people."

The bike lanes and partial bus lanes got built in spite of the museums, not because of their support.
Bike, transit advocates push for better car-free access to Balboa Park
Parking fees in Balboa Park have sparked a fierce backlash — and have prompted calls for improving bike, pedestrian and transit access to the park.

I’m still saying Usonian, as Frank Lloyd Wright intended 😤😤😤
This is why some people say “US-ians” instead of “Americans,” btw
“god bless America” meaning the continents of North and South America is going to give the worst people alive a collective aneurysm :)

I just realized that the black guy in that Claude ad about OpenAI is AI generated but the white guy isn't.

(Something something B"lack meme" and digital muling)

Saw petition sign gatherers outside the downtown grocery outlet trying to get a measure on the ballot that would lower property taxes in order to “encourage more housing” 🤦🏽‍♂️

Even the normie ass San Diegans (who, I kid you not, think Gaslamp has the best food scene) desire walkable neighborhoods

As my bus goes past the removed bus lanes, I’m just getting more mad as I realize:

there was no public comment period
no environmental study
no extended media coverage

They virtually did this over night. If they can do that, we should add it back over night.
And, this past week Caltrans/city removed the dedicated bus lane on Park Blvd. We’re going backwards, transit-wise. The airport, Balboa Park, and Harbor lack transit facilities because we don’t care. Transit service is completely missing from the BP parking fiasco dialogue. Backwards…

The 215 Rapid bus is the busiest bus line in the system and the mayors office has removed a portion of the dedicated bus lanes that serve it... as part of the deal they made with the San Diego Zoo on paid parking.

I've found that crafting an argument in a code review response is a useful exercise that causes you to either make your case or cause you to change your mind while thinking through your line of reasoning.

You can't let your ego get in the way of the second possibility.

It’s good to see construction workers properly put up signs along bike lanes

Ooh my latest article for @spectrum.ieee.org has been published! It's on a refrigerant-free freezer, developed by researchers at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) 👩‍🔬🧪⚛️

I did it, I managed to stretch my Brother laser printer for ~15 years with its original toner cartridge before the drum unit gave out.

Didn't even know there was a 2nd consumable component to these things.

Might as well replace the toner too since I've had a replacement just waiting for 10 years

When you dig into customizing Windsurf or Claude Code, so much of it is just adding text to its context window. Like, the neural network isn't being retrained on your project's domain. You're just prepending the same instruction repeatedly to your prompts. AI is incapable of learning new concepts

We have the CSS tech to create non-boxy layouts that 90’s image map web designers only dreamed of, but we still haven’t made websites that look as expressive as this

There's a rot -- a eugenicist, transhumanist, techno-optimist, new-atheist rot -- in elite institutions that connects Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Silicon Valley, CBS, Palantir, and ICE.

It sweeps in Epstein, Bannon, Thiel, JD Vance, Stephen Miller, Joe Rogan, and all these other IDW / NeoRX creeps.

Happy Andrew is reporting some positive news for a change about these bike lanes. They’ve been so unfairly vilified by the media that it’s good to counter it with ACTUAL stats and not hypotheticals.
San Diego installed bike lanes on a busy commercial street in North Park in 2021. Ridership jumped 67% the next year.

Now, 4 years later, bike and scooter trips on 30th Street have hit another record high. Foot traffic and business activity is also booming. www.kpbs.org/news/quality...
30th Street bike lanes in North Park saw record ridership in 2025
Bike and scooter trips on 30th Street have jumped 15% since the installation of protected bike lanes in 2021. Foot traffic and business activity also appear to be thriving.

The funny thing is, SD city politicians post about our budget as well. But their posts don’t have as far of a reach as Mamdani has. They just don’t got the rizz…nor a popular and actionable campaign plan behind them.
The City’s Budget is our future. And you deserve to know how it works.
