Four cats in a trenchcoat. Usually thinking about either food or ancestor loss coefficients, as one does.
Now what the hell am I supposed to do with that? It's upside down and hidden in the cat tree!

(Things are a lot better than last night but not quite there yet. And Goose Foot is both beautiful and trying his best. It'd probably be going better if he hadn't freaked her out last night but 🤷)

Guess who's visiting! It's a business visit though (and so far things are not looking good, but they never do! and it usually still ends in kittens! if I say this enough I'll believe it!) so I'm less important than the girl from another breeder who is also here.

Pics tomorrow when there's light.
A year ago vs a month ago. Goose Foot is going to be a father in ~4 weeks!

I can't get over how gorgeous this cat is. (I feel like I'm critical enough of my cats that I'm allowed to say this.) So happy that we managed to save the leg. So happy he's having kittens, even if they're not *my* kittens.

Only the second la vida loca and already my patience is being tried. (George Michael count is only at one so far, but TBF we're four ice dance pairs in)

My takeaway from the figure skating team event is that it's really good we had it before the main events because the camera crew/directors are improving day by day. On Friday I was in total despair re: all the upper body close-ups, but it's a lot better today.

Have now reached the part where I need to start thinking about short rows for the chest and ackshully I think this is probably not the time of day to do this. Especially during figure skating.
The things my poor cats have to put up with. I'm trying to write up a pattern for this kitty sweater, which involves a lot of "I wonder what I did here" since I knitted it ~8 yrs ago and I think mostly without a pattern. I know I *looked* at a bunch of patterns, but then I think I mostly winged it.

Is this the slowest Volare ever volared?

A trio of shivering orphans (although to the best of my knowledge all of their moms are alive and well) nestled up to the only turned-on heater in the house because tragically the air source heat pump handles most of the heating.

I'm usually Against variations on the traditional almond fastlagsbulle, even though my country has slowly & inexorably been taken over by the way (WAY) inferior jam filled one. HOWEVER I have now consumed a pistachio one and it was OK. And I have another one as they're sold in sets of two!

Got in just under the wire to see EMMA's Karin Hellman exhibition. Really amazing textile/collage art, and I do love a BIG exhibit.

Yeah so I think maybe there's a reason this cake is usually made with normal oranges and not blood oranges 😅 (the fruit's not burnt or even caramelized really, it's just that the oranges were extremely bloody, like partly almost black even pre-baking). Great taste though. 🍽️

They're growing! Doubled in size after a bit of a slow start. Bea is less neurotic about them than her first litter, possibly because her people are also calmer this time around.

Listen. Tidings are not ideal, globally speaking. And we all know Eurovision isn't bucking that trend. HOWEVER here is one of the Finnish hopefuls this year, throat singing to an accordion tune about getting your hair cut (into a mullet).

Domestic bliss from nine years ago (not really into the fact that apparently two of my girls were adult sized cats nine years ago but what can you do). This was how Isla grew up thinking life should be, she'd always make space for herself in the middle of Kasper & Emil cuddles.

thanks to watching international television I have just learned how delightful the Finnish work for mullet ("takatukka") is

Have I mentioned how much I hate the kittens any minute now, or maybe in 48 hours (if you're lucky) stage? Because I really hate it.

I mean, I think Bea probably hates it even more, but still. I'm the one who can whine about it.

Didn't have tube-feed 3-day-old 80g kitten on my to do list for today but here we are

Another one from my memories. I may have posted this here before but I just really love this photo, especially the way you can see Isla's shoulder & upper leg muscles.

I know FB sucks, ok, but the memories function is great sometimes. Here is a one from Senja and Felix's second date, which as you can see went splendidly and everyone was super happy with the proceedings at all times!

We got 1 kitten out of it, which tbh is about 1½ more than expected.

Hey, it's a unicorn (a book originally in Finnish that I have read and liked and that has now been translated)! Beasts of the Sea isn't as good a title as Elolliset though, but Life Forms doesn't strike the same tone in English so I'll forgive it. (Very different cover as well.)

Even more infuriatingly, Doing Movement for half an hour made everything hurt so much the next day I had to do it again, which in turn made other parts (I know I said everything earlier but roll* with me here) hurt, so I had to do even more exercise. A vicious circle D:

*I can't though, because ow.
I worked out today (meant to do it in the morning, then before lunch, actually did it at 15:30) and infuriatingly I feel kind of good now. But with a ~8h lead-in time of "any minute now!!" it's not likely to work once the holidays are over.

great news everyone, I went back to the antique store to buy the cookbook and the directions for opening an egg from page 34 are even more unhinged than I could have imagined
