Finally set up Locks for my Sci-Fi Survival Horror game! Doors can be locked by Keycard, when the Power is out in the Sector, or if when destroyed

The Art & Sound is all new, and I think it communicates the mechanics pretty well!

Flashback to my FPS Platformer project

The idea was to warp the design of Super Mario Bros into a bizarre horror shooter. I then discovered Doom The Golden Souls so I paused it for now. I still wanna flesh it out when I get a spare few weeks

Gory Groceries is a unique Arcade Survival Horror game where you need to do your daily grocery shopping amidst a Zombie Apocalypse. Expect high tension, quick thinking and hilarious absurd humour!

This is what I had, but it's only able to apply the effect in UV space so far. Any advice would be huge, as I was going to use it for a dismemberment system like in #DeadSpace or #ResidentEvil2

5/5 All indie devs should try drawing level layouts and if you like it, you need to invest in a dotted notebook! They're one of my favourite tools. I have a few and never leave home without one

I'm not sponsored, but leuchtturm1917 make by far the best ones - can't recommend their notebooks enough!

4/5 The second is that I can design anywhere! Some of my best levels have started life while I'm on the train or in a cafe.

The final benefit is that, on top of being perfect for scale, you can also add so much lore and context!

3/5 This has three other benefits. The first being that it's super quick to throw together! Since the paper is dotted, I can set the grid in Blender and have a finished Greybox environment within a few minutes.

Obviously, tweaks will be needed and lighting/props/mechanics need to be added in-engine

2/5 Almost every level I make starts as a grid map drawing on paper. This lets me quickly iterate and prototype encounters and puzzles before committing. These are not gospel - simply a great springboard so I don't start from 0

As part of the level design process for my #Alien inspired game, I've decided to greybox the Nostromo to help with scale & art direction. It's already surprising how well it works as an interesting space to explore, even just as a flat untextured mesh
