People who don’t include disability liberation in their understanding of social justice will never make sense to me.

Like what do you MEAN you oppose sexism, racism, and classism, but the minute the lived reality of that oppression starts showing up physically, all your energy just evaporates?
my māmā is at WIPCE 2025! her first ever conference, she is having the best time. it’s also so cool for her to get a sense of the Indigenous academic spaces and voices that radicalised me.

💔 Alice Wong’s last words: “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.”

We can never thank Alice enough for fighting all the good fights and especially all the hard fights. We all learned so much from your brilliance, your courage, and your indefatigable leadership. We will never forget you.

Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

Navigating ableism and caring for our loved ones with long covid
I write this post because i want to call us into the beautiful intentions that we hold when we are trying to show up for our loved ones who are unwell. Is this a cry for help? It is. We need you!

They need multidisciplinary care." #longcovid #mecfs

All of this here in New Zealand
Those who were following the Science and not believing “it’s mild”, warned that allowing Covid to spread unchecked would cause….

An increase in heart attacks and heart issues. That’s happening.

The pandemic never ended, and we're all living proof of that.

Offered rest home care at 24: the lonely plight of young Kiwis with long Covid
A group of young Kiwis prove what international studies show: that long Covid has a particularly debilitating effect on young people. But how much medical support is there for them?

It's estimated that hundreds of thousands of kiwis have Long Covid. The virus is still circulating in communities and schools and still disabling.
Fun fact: when you have Long Covid but can’t work you have to go on the Jobseeker benefit because GPs can’t say whether you’ll still have Long Covid in two years - so teens with chronic conditions are now conceivably navigating absolutely debilitating symptoms while also getting zero govt support 👍🫠
Hundreds of teens with a health condition, disability may be cut from Jobseeker benefit
The government is ending Jobseeker payments to 18- and 19 year olds whose parents earn more than $65,000.

Covid is a social justice issue.

Mitigations like masks, anti virals, air purifiers and tests cost money.

We should have free respirators in public places. Mandatory masking in hospitals. Clean air benchmarks. Paid time off.

Those steps would drastically reduce spread.

The Flotilla has achieved several remarkable victories. But the one thing that hits the hardest is that for the first time in years, Palestinians were able to go fishing due to the Flotilla keeping the IOF distracted. May it be the first of many wins ♥️

As Stuart Hall and his co-authors of Policing the Crisis note, "Statistics––whether crime rates or opinion polls––have an ideological function: they appear to ground free-floating and controversial impressions in the hard, incontrovertible soil of numbers." Data literacy should understand ideology!
