I'm feeling proud, lucky, and out-of-place among such a band of fictioneers. Yet, I have a a rough, quick punch among a host of lush moods and extravagance in the collection Animal Noir, edited by Elizabeth Mitchell, Feb 24.

One of the projects I am very excited about in 2026 is the anthology, ANIMAL NOIR from Little Key Press.

Born out of a silly Discord discussion about killer geese, a bunch of authors decided to write stories about anthromophic animals in the same city setting, New Growl.

Cover reveal below!

You could actually structure your moral code around the idea that law enforcement doesn't exist to execute people. You don't have to create perfect victim narratives, you can just refuse to accept that the state gets to kill people.

the 3D printers making whistles now are the modern equivalent of the ladies from WWII sewing flags and uniforms for the war effort
Also whoever sent this filament, please know I have a plate printing now and it will go to @lookitup.baby 😍 (as long as they are still loud!)

So I had this idea for a new game show called 'Are you more capable than a billionaire?' where a billionaire and a real person would complete at everyday tasks like
-fill out this FAFSA form
-assemble flat pack of furniture

So not my first finished read. I've started and finished 3 other books this year instead of The Dead Student but I made it to part 2 -- which is no reflection on the book, other than its a hard cover and I don't port those around with me
Last finished read of 2025 was Louise Penny's A World of Curiosities

Started and didn't finish so dragging into 2026 like an albatross is The Dead Student by John Katzenbach
(which may not turn into first finished read of 2026 because I may preempt it again)
