the best path to defunding the police would be to go "you need a license to be a cop, and here are the things you need to do to maintain being a cop." Convince the dems we're professionalizing the cops, but make the requirements so stringent a lot of people are permanently barred from it
The central question of the last decade+ in America is if the police can kill you if they feel afraid, and it was my understanding that you sign up for the job knowing there’s going to be danger and you’re paid to be better than “I shot him because I was scared”
