Learning about Norma McCorvey for my humanities class and finding myself struck by the sadness of her story. I find myself wanting some kind of justice for her despite her deep flaws and bad choices, and not knowing what justice for her postmortem even looks like.

Don’t overlook any anomalies.

If you find anomalies, turn back immediately.

If you don’t find anomalies, do not turn back.

The producers of SCREAM 7 are bad decision makers?

The same producers who fired their lead actress for vocally opposing the killing of unarmed women and children? They’re so good at reading the tone of the room!
Chico Marx walks into Groucho’s office at Spyglass. “Okay boss, remember when-a you told us to figure out a way to top the bad press? I did it!”

Groucho: “You dummy, I said find a way to STOP the bad press.”

Chico: “Uh oh…”

Every time I see someone critique a movie as "emotionally manipulative" I shed a little tear because all movies are emotionally manipulative, you fool. It isn't real! Why are you crying! Just say it's trying too hard because that's what you actually mean.

It’s Black History Month.

Another good excuse to say, “Read James Baldwin’s collected essays,” especially if you’re melanin challenged.

For Privileged people, Social Justice isn't so you can declare yourself a "good person", it's so you can learn to make yourself a safe person to be around for people unlike you while you fight with them to get them their rights.

This happened today and is a big story more news outlets should be reporting on but of course they aren't
Today is the day. Right now hundreds of Minnesota businesses and institutions are shut down. Thousands of people are refusing to work. There’s a massive picket at the airport. Minnesota’s resistance to ICE today is changing the tenor our fight against fascism.

Watched #OneBattleAfterAnother and #TheAlabamaSolution this evening. Two movies that care about what they're saying, but obviously Alabama Solution takes the cake. I don't think I could reasonably compare them in a truly just way.

Significant because the government wants you to think this woman was a leftist troublemaker who was responsible for her own death. If this were the case then they wouldn’t have her up on the screen at a sporting event. I wouldn’t expect every NBA team to do this but it’s good they did it in Minnie

I enjoyed the lovely little ARCO, a French animated feature from Ugo Bienvenu that at its best evokes Miyazaki and Moebius — no small feat for a feature debut. For @ebertvoices.bsky.social:

“Arco” is pleasingly, gently prismatic, if never quite groundbreaking.
