As if artists don't have enough to deal with, Amazon has a "Buy For Me" program in beta which is scraping indie shops for their items and putting them up on Amazon (often incorrectly), for their "AI agent" to buy from the other site. It is NOT opt in, and there is no opt out.

I do understand: you want permission. There's a machine in the corner wrapped in human skin that makes things out of shit and blood to look like whatever you want (as long as you don't look too closely). You gave one to your teacher and they didn't notice. Your boss told you to use it after they laid off half the team and it was fine. You fed one to your kids and they liked it. You want to know you can use it sometimes without me thinking less of you. You don't need me to believe it's useful, you just want me to be polite about it. But I am a hater, and I will not be polite. The machine is disgusting and we should break it. The people who build it are vapid shit-eating cannibals glorifying ignorance. I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself.

Last week, as part of my charity work, I delivered a speech at a concert for TDoR and IDEVaWG. Here are my remarks.

I usually don't share things like these on here, but I think it's important to speak up.

Good evening. My name is Zoe, and I'm a terrorist. Not really. The definition of "terrorism" is "the use of violence or the threat of violence against civilians in pursuit of a political or social goal," and while we want to change politics and society, we’ve never done anything like that. Sorry, but I needed a catchy phrase to open the conversation. To grab attention. But there's a grain of truth to it: because there are many people who call people like me terrorists. They say we're the ruin of the country. That it would be better if we didn't exist. Blaming an innocent minority as the perpetrator of all the ills that afflict society has always been a political tactic, especially on certain sides of the political spectrum, aimed at gaining consensus and strengthening one's own position. The story has always been this: you need a target. In 2015, in the United States, conservatives lost the battle against gay people following the Supreme Court ruling that made same-sex marriage legal nationwide. And it immediately became clear that the disasters conservatives feared—fire and brimstone raining from the sky, dogs and cats sleeping together—didn't materialize. So they changed their target. This shift in focus has been made deliberately and explicitly. There are documents published online by conservatives that outline how to do it: by pinning a whole host of wrongdoings on trans people. They talk about GENDER IDEOLOGY. They talk about PROTECTING WOMEN AND CHILDREN. They call us perverts. They call us mentally ill. They call us terrorists. I told you it's a way to grab attention, right? All this was done with the help of the Church, with a high prelate, perhaps the highest, who said that we have “a destructive potential equal to that of nuclear weapons.” It was done with the approval of a few millionaires, who, from the heights of their castles, spent billions on propaganda and financing lawsuits aimed at stripping trans people of the rights they have always had. It was done with the connivance and complicity of journalists. In September, a fascist was murdered in the United States. He was sitting in a university courtyard, making propaganda, and after spending his last words blaming trans people for the constant shootings in that country, he was shot. And on this subject, I'll read you the title of an article. Kirk's killer identified. FBI manhunt. Transgender slogan on rifle. Transgender slogans on rifle. Oh, that's no small thing. Of course, it wasn't true. It was a rumor spread by the right to discredit trans people, as they always do. But whoever wrote the article drank it up like a cold summer drink. And we're not talking about publications like LA VERITÀ or LIBERO or IL GIORNALE, which notoriously write things that would make Indro Montanelli turn in his grave. No. Do you know where the article I read you was published? La Repubblica. September 12, 2025, page eight. And you know what's worse? Once the transgender gun slogans were debunked, the denial wasn't published. Or rather, it was published, but dismissed with a hidden sentence in an article, not just in the headline like the news item itself. But in this case, perhaps it could be considered an honest mistake. In other cases, the bad faith is evident, and here we're talking about a tactic widely used by journalists to discredit trans people: they don't call us "people" but rather "activists." Because that reduces us to a political issue. Do you pee in a bathroom that someone thinks is wrong? You're an activist. Do you sue your employer for discrimination? You're an activist. Are you attacked by a man three times your size during a debate? You're an activist. Always an activist, never a victim. With these strategies and many others, they try to portray trans people as unreasonable, as bullies, as those who make absurd demands. As something new, appearing out of nowhere and seeking to upend society. But trans people have always been there and always will be. Do you know who Enheduanna is? Probably not, so I'll tell you: Enheduanna was a Sumerian princess, daughter of the ruler Sargon of Akkad, and a priestess of the goddess Inanna. She lived around 2300 BC. She is the oldest known female writer. And she was a trans woman. How do we know, you ask? Quickly: it is said that during a palace dispute, a rival priest pulled out a dagger, one of those used for the ritual castration of sacrificial rams, and threw it at Enheduanna's feet, saying, "This is the one you used on yourself, isn't it?" in mockery. But beyond proving that trans people have always existed, Enheduanna's story also demonstrates something else: since ancient times, from Enheduanna, to the myth of the seer Tiresias (transformed into a woman by the goddess Hera), to the Galli, Roman priests of the goddess Cybele who castrated themselves and dressed as women, to the medieval monks who wrote prayers to God to transform them into women, to the "two-spirit" people found among Native Americans, in most cultures, trans people have been considered bearers of a spark of divinity.
