A (pinned) reintroduction is in order now that The Third Exodus from Xitter seems to be total and lasting.

Hi All,
I chose Halvar as my internet moniker because a) disabled parent of disabled children & state employee and b) a single story passage meant so much to me.
I'm realizing how deeply Magic was entwined with how I interact others, because I'm muting one account after another and it's still a substantial part of my feed. It's like following my ex 🫠

Anyone who's more tech inclined than me, how would this affect having an emplyee google account logged in on a personal phone (not the primary)?

My school's already bad with communication, so having Gmail in my pocket is often the only way I know about things in a timely manner.

Thanksgiving is problematic. Giving thanks is not. As someone who wants to remember the attempted genocide of indigenous people but also likes a reminder to practice gratitude, I like to use Indigenous People's Month to support (and be grateful for) indigenous creators. A partial list! /1

Yep, one of the biggest drivers of the elite panic around “wokeness” was the increasing prominence of Black people and particularly Black women in their fields and we’re seeing that coalition rewarded with the targeting of Black workers.
Since February, according to my latest analysis, almost 600,000 Black women have been economically sidelined. The November 20, 2025, Jobs Report makes clear this isn’t a blip. It’s a structural crisis. That is not a recovery. It is a redistribution of opportunity.

You can be in a room full of people and still feel lonely

And when you’re autistic, that feeling can be even louder

But everything changes the moment you find your people - the ones who get you, celebrate you, and make the world feel a little less overwhelming ❤️

The double-empathy problem, specifically autistic vs allistic, in settings with bureaucratic structure, is inherently biased towards labeling a difference in communication styles/needs as a character flaw on part of the autistic person.
We are rarely, if ever, met halfway.

In a true week-of-weeks, I recieved word from my old NerdHerd yesterday. The Game Club I created and nurtured for a decade, that beautiful intersection of geeks, unhatched autists, budding progressives, and queer/ally kids... is dead.
Disbanded barely over 2 years after I left, for lack of support.

I spent today in 4.5 hours of administrative meetings, either aggressively defending my needs by neurotype, or unloading on the deficits of school admin.

I told them I don't want to leave, because I believe my colleagues and I are building something worthwhile, but am absolutely looking in spring.
I was reminded today of 3 things.

1) I am thoroughly traumatized by my previous school administration, and will react accordingly the rest of my career.

2) I will face the same issues my whole career and life, primarily because of my communication style.

3) They will never understand or care to.

I really can't stress how important it is for progressive and leftists to contend for school, library, water, etc etc boards. Hyper local involvement in our communities where we can actually influence lives.

We’ll also hand out hundreds of whistles (for free!) in heavily immigrant communities this week.

I've wanted nothing but to teach since I was 12. The 1v1 work and connections give me joy and fuel me in a way that even my own kids can't match.

Something in me broke a few days ago. I can feel it. The hole. The missing sense of purpose. The reason to persevere.
And that terrifies me.

I usually become very cynical around expressions of faith/religion, but folks like this remind me that my discontent, my utter revulsion, is not with faith, but with the dogma-turned-cult that faith often becomes, particularly American Christianity.

This is LIVING that faith.
Respect to you, Syr.
I would add only this: you are a masterpiece, too. God didn’t get it wrong.

Being autistic and alone can be such a joy. Its just a break from the constant chore of being around other people, having to know when to make small talk and when not to, what to say when making small talk. Not worrying about what the other person or people are going to say. Everything is upto me.

It is kind of amazing to me that the hiring process does a good job of actively weeding out autistic people,

And then when autistic people actually get jobs they're like "wow direct and clear communication and a strong reliable work ethic, just what we're looking for!"

Could've fooled me..
Stop using chatgpt adopt an autistic with special interests TODAY this deal wont last forever mostly cause they get overstimulated pretty fast but hey great for the environment amirite
