Stating that you intend to use FreeBSD for desktop things rather than Linux seems to be a very upsetting notion for certain GNU/Linux fans, it would appear.

Denying that the Linux Chaos Vortex exists doesn't make it go away, though.

Got various nefarious project purposes for which SD cards would be used, but I have no need for larger than 16 GB cards. Even <8 GB cards are plenty, yet it doesn't seem so easy to find those.

Guess I can scour EBay for hoarders selling stashes or so...

If you were planning to buy an SSD any time soon... hope you like paying a heap more.

Just checked what a budget 1 TB SATA SSD goes for that I bought a couple of weeks ago, and the current price is already up from 51 to 61 Euro. Never mind other brands that are rising much faster.

The rule with questions in headlines is that they're always answered with 'no'.

The long answer is 'No, inference algorithms are no more going to become sentient than a digital game of chess will'.
"AI models are refusing to shut down even when asked! Is this a sign that AI is becoming sentient and taking over the world?!?!"

Gosh someone save us from bad tech journalists.

The BBC chair rightly admits an error in editing Trump’s Jan 6 speech. But he does not challenge the false Trumpian claim in the dossier: that Panorama “completely” and “materially”misrepresented its meaning. This is not impartiality. It’s surrender to post-truth populism.

When you consider how many bats are killed by nuclear power plants and how many by wind turbines, we absolutely should be building NPPs, not wind turbines.

Save the sky puppies~

Millions of bats are being killed by wind turbines, but smart sensors could help protect them | CNN
They’re a vital source of renewable energy, but wind turbines can be a danger to bats. Bat-detection technology could protect the flying mammals, while keeping wind turbines turning.

It's a real shame that the US Democratic Party isn't really a political party, but just a front for US oligarchs and related interests.

My condolences to the US people who just wanted to live their lives in peace. Seems like this is a 1930s-esque era instead, though so far no Social Democrat POTUS.

Wondering whether 2026 will be the year when the first millions of US refugees will start pouring into neighbouring countries and we can do an ironic rerun of 2015.

Every time when I see just how cripplingly incompetent and divided Dutch & German politics are, I find some small comfort in the fact that politics here isn't nearly as cooked as it is over in the USA.

Good reason to not become more like the US, I guess. Less populism, more education, etc.

What is with all the "you have to support Expedition 33 for GOTY if you love turn based RPGs" nonsense?

No. We don't.

No shame on people who love the game but why should those of us who don't think it's that amazing be guilted into supporting it anyway?
