yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.

The water pipeline bill's unanimous passage suggests wide majorities in the Senate and House to override Trump's veto - if GOP leaders will allow it. Boebert tells me she's already spoken with Speaker Johnson about an override vote or rolling the bill into other legislation.

Not only is this Supreme Court order making it harder for President Trump to send national guard into American cities welcome, Justice Kavanaugh seems to want to pull back from his earlier concurrence where he suggested race and ethnicity could be the basis for immigration checks. Now he says this:

WOW. The lead plaintiff is a Latino man who's been here legally for 24 years. He was grabbed off the street by plainclothes federal agents who didn't even ASK about his status.
