Let's talk about nerdy things!
Anyone familiar with tanstack & shadcn able to explain why have the most basic setup is causing 1000's of chunks to be made? It's making my browser lag. I'm using the dashboard-01 block and followed tanstack start from scratch. Seems like a vite problem?

Public bribe time - first google engineer to add the ability to tell the browser to never request favicon.ico, through the means of a `x-fuck-off-favicon` style header, I'll buy you a beer if I have the pleasure of meeting you in person 🙇‍♂️

When Kubernetes does things wrong and you need to address it directly in order to yell at it, use vocative case: κῠβερνῆτᾰ (kuberneta)

To express what you would like to do to Kubernetes (as the object of some choice verbs), use the accusative: κῠβερνήτην (kuberneten)

So I've been wondering where all my money is going on groceries. Turns out my bank has an API to attach pictures of receipts and even submit that data in a structured format (fancy OCR time I think!!).

So I'm learning how to write an SWC plugin. Done the most basic hello world of transformers and changed an OL element to a UL one. Long term aim is to inject OpenTelemetry instrumentation into react apps.

Any cool folks going to #dtx next week? Would be great to meet up with friends but also some folks I've never met.

Looking forward to the Severance finale! Any wild theories?

@vfarcic.bsky.social I watched your video on backstage where you changed your mind about it. Really great watch!
I saw you were programatically building it and you inspired me to revist my project where I programatically build backstage.

Curious if any platform engineering team has used dagger to success yet? It has matured over the last year, enough that I want to try it out. The new LLM integration seems interesting, almost a land grab attempt at the MCP market.

Then we explained that we sometimes have to tell the baker that it's not the oven's fault if they want to bake bread using the grill setting!

Explaining platform engineering to a non-tech person at the pub on Saturday, stretching a baking analogy a bit too far... K8s folk make the ovens, OTel folk provide the timers and temp gauges, CI/CD provide the tray and racks (bit of a stretch, no pun intended), but we don't make the bread.

Wow such a great video by @zaman.io
A small reminder of humility. Just because we can solve complex problems, doesn't mean we can solve all problems by ourselves.

Note to self, don't use Verbatim SD cards for hosting an OS on an SBC. I'm guessing the host must have been writing pretty frequently because it's died within 1 month 😅

Okay, question for my #devops and #platformengineering folks. Has anyone found a good was to proxy `terraform_remote_state` backends and mask the state file, other than the outputs?

In my city there is one cybertruck and one DIY parody of a cybertruck and the parody truck has become a local celebrity. Meanwhile, I always wish I had some rotten eggs to throw at the tesla whenever I see it.

Excited to move my media server off of my desktop. Went for an orange pi 5 plus because it has really good transcoding and is low power.
The OS story might be.. fun 😂
But I think I'm up for the challenge if the OS story is a little annoying

Hmm interesting. The raw output tends to honour system prompts to get structured output, but the model is deeply trained to explain its chain of thought in `<thought> </thought>` tags.

Some additional sanitization is needed it seems
Just upgraded the platform engineering feed to use the deepseek r1 algorithm. Hoping it has some more relevant context on the topic to make decisions.

I feel like Trump's issuing so many executive orders because he just learned the words executive order. "I can do that? Oh well of course I can do that. In fact I said to my friend (great friend) last week, how I was going to do executive orders"

So, I've been wondering why I've had weird performance issues with my internet recently. Turns out it's IPv6.
Azure CLI was hanging, hitting the same URL in curl and python (using the same lib) was working. Looks like azure cli was pinning to ipv6 somehow 🤷‍♂️
all my internet is quicker now 😅

I do like the winter season, it's super moody. But sun does hit different 😎
friends, in the northern hemisphere we have now *done* the darkest *eight weeks* of the year. the next 44 weeks are all lighter than this.

(please: no replies to this pointing out other stuff that is still bad. I'll just block. we must be allowed to rejoice in at least *the return of the sun*.)
