We live in a world where fascist interests ARE material interests. Where the need to feel like you can go out and cull the undesirables with impunity rivals or even outweighs the need to afford groceries.

So. Now what?

A majority of Republicans still approve of Trump and ICE after Renee Nicole Good's execution.

They are, simply put, not interested in a functional society. They will sacrifice any semblance of a sustainable future or a rational economic outlook in order to feel big, tough, and beyond decency.

Free yourself from the fantasy that the Dems are going to save us. They've chosen sides, loud and clear. Use that clarity, and find the people who actually want to stop these fuckers not by voting in 9 months but by stopping them NOW before they can do any more harm

But the Democrats are not troubled by logical consistency or moral concerns. They want to fundraise and campaign and schmooze and fundraise again. ICE aren't the only ones out here "just doing their jobs".

People spend so much mental effort, tying themselves in knots trying to defend the indefensible actions of putative leaders, that they often end up out of logical consistency and honesty or just exhaustion failing to understand and support the people in the street

Harden your heart and end your humane generosity to Dems, not just because it will make you more astute, but so you can actually love your neighbors, random individuals who are risking everything in sub-freezing Minnesotan winter to stop a modern Nazi regime from gaining more of a foothold

The fact that they could theoretically resist and that you voted for or campaigned for them to do so is irrelevant. Look at what they are DOING in the face of a civil war style occupation of a major metro. That is who they are, even if you want to believe better of them.

Someone who tells you to calm down, protest peacefully, who sends in troops to calm you down? That's which side Walz and Frey are on. No matter whether they made a satisfying speech once, Walz isnt even running again. He has no political stakes. Hes doing exactly what he wants

Only the motherfucker with access to mainstream publishing and mates in academia who'll keep their work in print gets remembered. Entire periods and struggles represented by the one book you can find in the library or on Amazon.

You experience this yourself once you've been around a while. Movement debates and actions I was part of crystallise into a few pat opinions and one or two texts that "represent" the moment whereas in fact they don't represent shit. The memory fades, the zines and blog posts are lost.

What texts remain easily accessible and what you have to go digging for is mostly the result of gatekeeping. The radical stuff. The scary stuff. The stuff that was conceived where the rubber met the road in movement work. That shit doesn't get reprinted.

the threat of deportation creates an underclass that can't access the justice system or public services. these people are then exploited. that's the entire point. ICE and DHS (and their European counterparts, etc) are not "failing to address" this, they exists *to* create this underclass!
