I'd forgotten how brutal this painting is. It *checks notes* "goes hard", as the kids say

It's also infamously known as a cursed painting, during exams it is covered up because of an urban legend that a student killed themselves after looking at it.

I *think* it's correct in scientific papers, where an author might have helped with the research but not actually contributed to writing it up. Maybe the usage spread from there? Journalists love new and exciting/irritating variations on common words
