My parents moved to Portland a few months ago and just got tear-gassed for the first time.

Do we even know the identities of the men who shot Alex?

What makes these protests so unique is they aren’t a response to something that either already happened or is happening somewhere else. The things people are in the streets protesting in Minneapolis are happening right now, right in front of them, repeatedly.

A long time ago I lived in Minneapolis. It’s such a great place, and I’m really proud of how the people who live there are responding to this ICE occupation.

It's SO disheartening to see an ICE officer who murdered a woman have their GoFundMe raise $650k+ in days while I am fighting for my life.

What does that say about this country and its priorities?

Sorry. I'm tired & not feeling well tonight.

I'd be so grateful if you could SHARE this. ❤️

Fighting #cancer is the hardest thing I've ever done. It's been an 18 year battle - now stage 4.

I need to raise $750 by next week so I can meet my deductible. I see my oncologist on 1/19 & it will all be due.

it is fairly amazing how clear it was, at the time, what was happening. so much chaff has been thrown into the air since then, of course, that most coverage takes a "whomst amongst us can say what happened that day?" approach

Well, .1 percent through the year and nothing to show for it. Think I’ll just write this one off.

@erikloomis.bsky.social Nice Sam Goody entry in the grave series. I was thinking Tower Records founder Russ Solomon would be a good grave to cover, but I can’t figure out where it is, though I’d guess somewhere in or near Sacramento.

It’s the obvious orchestration that really gets me. Schumer obviously managed the votes so nobody up for election in 2026 had to vote to reopen.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

The sole disappointment today is that I wish I saw signs commenting on the Supreme Court. Never forget that it’s the Roberts court that is giving Trump his crown.

Downtown Portland. Today was my daughter’s first protest. We didn’t make it through the entire march, but I was proud of her.

Again, it's very weird how everyone--Democrats, Republicans, media, everyone--just pretends Republicans can't just eliminate the filibuster and past the CR today.

It's important to remember when GOP Reps and Sens are yelling about the 'violent left' that they routinely tell reporters and colleagues how theyre afraid to do this or that because their own supporters routinely threaten violence agains them.
