The first nine shows were reserved exclusively for Puerto Rican residents, prioritizing locals before international tourists. The final performance, Una Más, was held on the eighth anniversary of Hurricane Maria and livestreamed worldwide on Amazon Music. The concerts had a sizable effect on the island during its slow hurricane off-season. Roughly 600,000 people attended, doubling typical seasonal tourism and pushing hotel occupancy rates up by about 70 percent. Estimates of the total economic injection range from $200 million to $400 million. Between 2,000 and 8,000 temporary jobs were created across hospitality, event production, and retail. Local operators saw revenues rise by 14 percent, and artisans and traditional food vendors reported major sales spikes. Moody’s Analytics raised its 2025 growth forecast for Puerto Rico from 0.3 percent to 0.4 percent, explicitly citing the “Bunny Bump.” That economic intervention runs alongside a clear political current across his latest, Grammy-winning album. Press statement From Islip Forward: At approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning, federal agents were documented using infrastructure located on the property of the Central Islip Fire Department Station 2, at 110 Wheeler Road-without prior authorization to be on or use that space. When a volunteer with Islip Forward approached to document the activity, federal agents threatened the volunteer with arrest for alleged trespassing, despite the agents themselves operating in an area where no prior permission had been granted. Immediately following this interaction, the Central Islip Fire Department took swift action to protect its property and the public. Temporary restrictions were implemented, including closing the gate to the area being used and preventing external access. The use of municipal fire department property for federal enforcement activity—without authorization-and the subsequent threat directed at a community volunteer raise serious concerns about transparency, overreach, and respect for local institutions. We are deeply grateful to the volunteer firefighters of the Central Islip Fire Department for their decisive and responsible response.

🚨 New York City Comptroller Mark Levine would like to resume financing the Israeli government and its war machine by buying Israeli bonds with New York City’s $311 billion public pension funds, which he oversees, reversing a 2023 halt and moving forward despite Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s objections, the Financial Times reports. Mamdani has supported divestment, citing Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its violations of international law across Palestine and the region. In backing debt riskier than U.S. Treasuries—that Israel’s Finance Ministry said in January 2026, after a major $6b issuance, was meant “to help finance war-related expenses and the rehabilitation of its military”—Levine argues politics should not factor into investment decisions. He told the FT that “the Israel bonds have performed very well and they continue to be investment grade rated,” so his “fiduciary responsibility is to make investment decisions based on that record of performance.” In reality, Israel’s 10-year dollar bonds yield about 5.2%, compared with roughly 4.2% for U.S. Treasuries, higher returns tied to higher risk. The context Levine says should be ignored: Israel borrows heavily to continue its genocide and illegal occupation.
