Totally blind queer poet. Radical leftist. Horror fanatic. Voracious bookworm. Crazy cat lady. Half-serious witch. Equal parts shimmer and simmer, rapture and rage. She/her.

Okay, a pinned post.

I'm Daisy and I care a lot about horror, books where girls kiss each other, my cats and probably also your cats, twee cottagecore bullshit, poetry, and productive uses for leftist rage. And podcasts. And vinyl.

I write a weekly newsletter at buttondown.com/greengaybles.
I love this book, but I'm hesitant about this adaptation for multiple reasons. I want it to be good. We'll see.

I love coneflowers so much, but mine died, as all flowers I attempt to grow eventually do 😭

Rümeysa Öztürk describes the library in the prison where she was held for 45 days for co-authoring an op-ed

Rümeysa is one of the kindest, most compassionate people I have ever met. Many of you came to know her first and foremost as an ICE abductee, seized by a state that wanted to strip her of her humanity. I would like for you to know her in her own words, which are resoundingly human.
“Even God Cannot Hear Us Here”: What I Witnessed Inside an ICE Women’s Prison
Tufts University doctoral student Rümeysa Öztürk opens up about her 45 days in a South Louisiana processing facility—and the generous and compassionate women she met.

Day 196: Little Garden of Horrors

I tried a new brand of ink that i picked up in a local shop a couple months ago, but I'm really not happy with how translucent it was, immediately (you can see where I used it in the lower right corner). Good experiment at least; I plan on using it for inkwash now

I love this dress so much, and it has the benefit of being very cool, which is absolutely vital right now. I'm going nowhere at all today, but I put it on and did my hair and stepped out into the oppressive heat to take this photo anyway.

Eventually I will get a better photo where the whole dress is visible, but while I'm getting beter at the art of the selfie, what I still cannot do is take a full body photo.

And on an entirely different note, this is my other current favorite song, which has been on repeat for over a month, since my friend heard it on the subway and shared it with the group chat. Nur-D has a lot of bangers, but this is my favorite of them.

I recently discovered American Murder Song because this song was on an Appalachian horror playlist I was listening to, and I have become a little bit obsessed with their Murder Ballads of 1816: The Year Without a Summer album and this track in particular.

Guys, please turn on your AC if you have it. You, you yourself, are important and should be neither killed nor impaired by severe heat. The fact that you care about climate change is why we need you to survive it, to help us take away billionaires’ private jets and make the changes we need for all

Haha not only does this essay have no real point, but it's also just...not good. Like, it's boring and not well written. If all you have to say is why can't we all be friends and stop being mean to each other, you could at least say it interestingly Idk.
Wild that right-wing families somehow aren’t to blame for their longstanding and systematic snubbing of queer and lefty children.

Countless lines from the very quotable 1990 IT miniseries. Very specific lines from New Girl. Bing in Joe Hill's NOS4A2 saying "Bing, Bing, you stupid thing, you've made a mess of everything," but said the way Kate Mulgrew says it in the audiobook narration, whenever I make a mistake.
What's the most random/obscure thing you quote?

In "The Stand' by Stephen King (complete/uncut ed iirc), a character called The Kid would sometimes say "how do you like that happy crappy?" and I often say that to myself/out loud for various reasons lol.
