"In the 1935 book, the US is torn apart by a flamboyant blowhard politician who uses fearmongering and empty promises to the working class to win election before consolidating his power, shattering the traditions of governance, breaking any laws that constrain him and stoking paranoia and division."

What is the end game here? No publicly funded cultural events that aren’t approved by Israel? No arts boards that aren’t pro-Israel? The sections of our political class and media who are active in this attempted gutting of our cultural landscape need to ask wtf they are doing here.

Just saw this. What utter bullshit. The Israel lobby are devoted to destroying the livelihoods of anyone who does not share their love of genocide.

Wilcox cartoon was divisive – and we apologise for the hurt it has caused
Although there is no place in this country for hate speech, there must be room for people to express their views on politics and world events.

Yankland is fucken shithole. Imagine debating if a woman seemingly killed for no reason by law enforcement deserved it. I'd say that's fucking third world shit, but I think that'd be an insult to people living in third world countries

Had anything like this happened before in Australia? A Royal Commissioner appointed through negotiation with bad-faith actors, details leaked out via extremist activists journalists?

Always find yanks suggesting that somehow food from other cultures are blander or worse than Yankland food quite astounding. Imagine actually believing Indian or Japanese cuisine is blander than theirs

The American people electing Trump after he staged a coup attempt 5 years ago was a nail in the coffin of our democracy. You can rationalize it all you want - But inflation! But wokeness! - but ultimately it was a societal suicide attempt and probably the dumbest collective voting decision ever made

Just remembering all those allegations about Kunihiko Ikuhara from years ago, and how literally nothing ever came of them. Just odd to me that none of the anime news outlets were willing to report on it, regaless of legal issues

Had 10 days off between Christmas and New Years, and just felt fantastic. First day back today and I'm feeling really off again. Been toying with the idea of quitting for awhile and having a gap year as such. I'll soon be able to afford it. Just wondering if I can go back to temping afterwards

It seems like the extent of strategic planning was the demented one saying “just go and get him and everything will work out”.
No troops on the ground, a non-compliant regime, an angry populace, a live hostage situation, a divided nation, a corrupt US leadership in fantasyland. It’s a nightmare.
