In Springfield, Ohio, people are preparing in advance of a “large deportation” promised by the president. To all appearances, the city is 2 or 3 days from a federal ethnic cleansing, grounded in a hate campaign organized by the vice-president and American Nazis.

To be clear, we were thousands of regular folks at an entirely non-violent march that passed by the ICE building. They let loose chemical agents on families with little children. Elderly in wheelchairs. For no reason. The cruelty was the point. Attempting to provoke a riot was the point.
ICE just tear-gassed the shit out of the entirely peaceful union protest here in Portland. Children. Elderly. Thousands of people exercising our First Amendment rights.

They are women with the power and platform that few are given, who are using them to perpetuate the pain of other women.
Their willingness to serve as a mouthpiece, cheerleader, proxy, and an instrument of injury for him boggles the mind of anyone still capable of compassion and critical thinking.

If you think they’re building more detention facilities, increasing mass surveillance, and growing the size of ICE just to deport undocumented immigrants, then you haven’t been paying attention.

Continuing to fund ICE is enabling what we all know is coming next.

Georgia Fort live-streamed her arrest for covering the church protest. Her children were at home at the time.

They have taken her to Whipple.

It's not quite the most pressing issue at the moment, but the American people absolutely have a right to know the names of the federal officials who shot and killed a man peacefully protesting, who was on his knees, prone in the street when they shot him in the back.

Meanwhile, he's pardoned multiple convicted fraudsters, including several who gave money to his campaign and Super PAC.

The execution of Alex Pretti is playing so badly because you can look at his actions and life story - his last act was helping, boy scout, athlete, health care worker to veterans - and compare those to the men who killed him and know which you would want to be your son, brother, father, uncle.

If only we as a country, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our independence, had some historical events from our founding era that might help us understand why agents of a distant government shouldn’t murder protesters on the streets of the city where they live.
