Why do American Social Democrats call themselves Democratic Socialists? This is a genuine question.
I am old, but I always understood DS to mean orthodox Marxist Leninist (eg German DEMOCRATIC Republic) or, in a Western context, those who argued that socialism was achievable via the ballot box.
