Good to see this.
Now we need some joint action across all publicly owned operators to tackle the ticketing and fares please?!
At very least why not introduce a rail card which gives discounts to all #GBR fares? Too complex right now maybe, but worth considering?

Greater Anglia comes into public ownership today🎊🎉

Passengers are one step closer to a railway that is run in their interest, not the interest of shareholders from around the world.

Time for a railway that is run for us.

How many #maps have there been on album covers? Cartographer Damien Saunder knows! His wonderful new book Maps On Vinyl: An Atlas of Album Cover Maps shows over 400! He explains how he collected them, and the joys of putting together his superb new book here: www.vectisradio.com/podcast/catc...

In words of Laura Linney (#TrumanShow): “DO SOMETHING”!
Labour leadership must turn 180 degrees. Re-embrace socialist values rather than pandering to big businesses/persecuting poorest. Where’s action on utility bills? Where’s the wealth tax? Why no Green deal? Wake up or RacistReform will triumph!

Millions of people do not agree with these dreadful, divisive creatures. Embrace diversity!
Do share!

Earlier this year, Dr. Jane Goodall sat down for an interview for Brad Falchuk’s new Netflix series, Famous Last Words.

The premise of the series is to interview people on the condition that the interview not air until the subject has passed away.

This is just a foretaste of what FarRight’s RefUK would do:

-Dementia Care Centres: CLOSED
-Centres for Learning Disabilities: CLOSED
-Transport for SEND students: CUT
-Teaching Assistants: CUT
-Social Care Staff: CUT

Who’s bank-rolling millionaire FarRight Fürage? And more importantly why?
Those backers will want a return on their money if this dreadful con-man wins any more influence. Undoubtedly that will be: more fossil fuels, more power, more greed.
Have that conversation now with anyone tempted by this man!

Farage’s Reform UK is wrapped in a global web of dodgy companies, properties, and family-linked shareholders - from London to Tortola, Canada, France, Iran, Kazakhstan. Cash flows through shell firms while Farage grins for bought journos. Brexit hype, money laundering, zero accountability.

Most American urban areas are difficult to navigate without a car. Benjamin Schneider considers the North American built environment in his new book The Unfinished Metropolis. And he joins us from New York City to explain how things could improve. www.vectisradio.com/podcast/catc...

Was only a matter of time until they turned on us too. The "Christian" Right (quite how they justify themselves as christians is beyond me) absolutely hate #LGBTQ people and have waited in the wings with their homophobia to attack us. :-(

All we need to know about the state of the world: greed = power. In case anyone didn’t know: Trump & Far-right Fürage are the biggest advocates of billionaires.

The Billionaires Have Been Sucking the Rest of Us Dry Since 1989—And It’s Worse Than You Think

The 905 billionaires in the U.S. hold a combined $7.8 trillion in wealth, giving those at the very top political influence and power that undermines our democracy while working people scrape to get by.

Just in case you didn’t know: climate change denial lobbies are funding the Conservative Party: so Kemi wants to repeal laws to protect our planet. Those who pay the piper call the tune.

In other news, Kemi Badenoch's party has taken at least £7 million in donations from funders and directors of climate change denial lobby groups bylinetimes.com/2025/03/18/k...

Wonderfully eclectic mix of signage era’s at #ClaphamJunction railway station today, starting with the #GillSans of post 1948/pre 1965 period, through #RailAlphabet, SWR’s resigning, to newest RA2. Will #GreatBritishRailways address this? Probably, eventually (but be nice to see some preserved)?

What James says:

Right-wing media fluffs Farage for years, to the point where he now leads the polls, and then start whining about Starmer being 'obsessed' when he starts telling some long overdue home truths. It's actually hilarious.

Good point
Didn’t know about that
Thanks for pointing out

It was more complex in Greater Manchester: public transport was so catastrophically poor compared to Londons that it needed massive improvement before it could entice car drivers into it. That process is now underway. Once transit alternatives exist they will undoubtedly try again. :-)

It was a tad more complex for Greater Manchester: main reason was that the public transport system was so catastrophically poor compared to Londons that it needed massive improvement before it could entice car drivers into it. That process is now underway Joshiah but it’s a slow “burn” sadly!

Bravo Zurich. We need that in UK. Bigger/heavier (mostly Stupendously Unnecessary Vehicles) must be taxed off the roads. They’re too dangerous (deadly to pedestrians), our roads are too small for them, they use too much fuel. That original 1960s Mini could seat 4 people! Nothing bigger is needed!

On Sunday, #Zürich residents voted 52.8% in favor of increasing parking fees for cars according to weight.

The owner of a BMW X2 (Diesel), which weighs 1,675 kilograms, will now pay equivalent of €717 Euros per year to park on a public street. (Before, about €321.)

Direct democracy!
