They’re killing people as a twitter joke. It’s depraved. Can’t let yourself lose the capacity to be appalled and disgusted and outraged by this.

If you're concerned about the erosion of anti racist norms and the rise of the far right, you have to factor in two solid years of bipartisan British complicity in this genocide. What do you think our government's role in this racist bloodbath tells us about the state of our political culture?

So this is a bit weird. The Guardian has done a big ‘Who owns the UK media?’ graphic that includes all national titles + Unherd, Statesman etc.

But *not* the Observer. 🧐

Cock-up? Or implicit acknowledgment that we still don’t actually know who *does* own the Observer.

We all desperately want to clear the courts backlog seeing victims withdraw from the criminal justice process.

But the backlog was caused by chronic underfunding, not juries.

Restricting jury trials would undermine our democracy and right to a fair trial, and may even be a false economy.

Cutting Motability is just the meanest, small-minded, penny-pinching cruelty, in order to save a rounding-error's worth in the Budget.

But it's not really about saving money. It's about demonstrative cruelty to appeal to people who will never, ever vote Labour.

The 50 wealthiest families own more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population.

How can this Labour Government say this is a "cost of living" budget and refuse to tax the rich?

They care about protecting power and wealth. And cost of living is a buzz phrase for them. Dire.

Starmer's government redefines "terrorism" to include for the first time civil disobedience and protest.

Then it declares it's scrapping the ancient right to trial by jury (because juries too often acquit protesters).

In a rigged justice system, injustice is assured.

Being on BlueSky and not Twitter, I sometimes forget just how ridiculous anti-trans activists are, and then I see one post something like “genders hadn’t been invented when I was born”, and all I can do is question how they got to this point in life.

"There are soiled sheets, unvoiced fears, missed doses of morphine. The hard truth, in short, about underfunding palliative care is that people who are at their most vulnerable – the dying – suffer more pain, more indignity, less choice & less autonomy than they might have." Please read this piece:
