Sixty years ago today, some well-known photos of electric-era Bob Dylan were shot at the Blonde on Blonde sessions for Fender guitars. Turns out there was a funny backstory (Bob was NOT happy so he posed with the wrong instrument in protest). An interview with someone who was there in the newsletter

A couple of days old but this is the only Beatles documentary I need, really (saw it and taped it in 1988, soon after the initial CD run had emerged the previous year). The combination of concision, the range of interviewees and the actual songs/footage but no 'official' imprint all works great.

If you missed the show, don't worry! You can stream it at wcbn.org. It was pretty amazing! People were dancing in the streets, weeping with joy. It was that good!

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have made a HUGE breakthrough towards a UNIVERSAL antiviral. By targeting sugar molecules found on the surface of many viruses that SHARE structural similarities, they identified FOUR compounds that successfully BLOCKED infections from SEVEN different viruses.

Jesus Christ, the "remastered" Beatles Anthology documentary they re-released is filled with AI slop. Look at John and Paul's faces, and the "T" on Beatles.

It grosses me out when college football announcers talk about “toughness” in re: kids playing on injuries. These young people are destroying their bodies for our entertainment.

FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH (1982) remains one of or (I say) THE best movie about high school. With a devastating soundtrack. Watching it now.

Was revisiting the half time performance from yesterday, and am now revisiting my vids from the Masonic in April. Lazaretto is a heavy, funky jam!

I once heard a French guy say that it’s vulgar to pop a champagne cork. It should sound like the exhalation of a satisfied lover. Only the French can get away with saying something like that. 🥂

2003 year-end wrap up disclaimer:

“Our rules for inclusion aren’t as strict as some; actually, we don’t have any rules for inclusion. So if you see something that wasn’t actually released in 2003, or that isn’t actually a record, or isn’t actually very good, it’s okay…don’t be such a tight-ass.”
