In my PhD thesis, about what "voice" means in relation to #disability I developed 4 themes:

1. Identity/Self-expression
2. Autonomy/Self-determination
3. Info/knowledge-transfer
4. Pursuing social change

This film models the importance of each of these brilliantly.

Nearly everyone is aware of #autism. We even have our own law - the Autism Act.
So why do 91% of #autistic people feel that society does not accept or only sometimes accepts them?

The world is imploding but here we academics are, producing papers.

What we need to graduate, get promoted, get tenure is papers. (barring design schools)

Circa 2024, there has to be more tangible immediacy in our output. Capstone projects. Policy campaigns. Activism. Institutions.

Yay! @sionr.bsky.social has created a Court of Protection starter pack (👏) - fab collection of people interested in the #NotSecretCourt
I have had a go at creating a Court of Protection starter pack off the back of a relatively quick search on here. I have undoubtedly missed a lot of people, so feel free to let me know if I have.

Starter packs are genius, but I was surprised there wasn't a list of them for people to find.

So I built it:
blueskydirectory.com/starter-pack...

The website monitors the packs being shared and adds the ones it finds to the database.

Missed your stater pack? Message me and I'll get it added.

A tip for those looking for great accounts:

Find someone whose work or values you respect, and look at who they are Following

I just did so for @gillloomesquinn.bsky.social (one part of the fantastic Open Justice Court of Protection Project) and found so many new interesting people to follow🙏

I have started a pack for neuro and stroke OT/PT/SLT, to make it easy for people landing. There are some other great more general neuro/neurorehab packs, but this is just to help people landing. Using "neuro" in it's broadest sense and have included some "honorary" AHPs

This is an incredibly enlightening set of individuals.
I'm not even a *tenth* of the way through and already I've learned about monotropism (thanks @harrietcannon.bsky.social) and Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness (thanks @gillloomesquinn.bsky.social )
Ok so I've put together a (currently small) starter pack of people with an interest/investment in #disability in #UKHE, including disabled students and staff. Tied my brain in knots about adding people without consent, so please please let me know if you want adding! go.bsky.app/SzRGzk4
