PIP legislation + my concerns about:

1. Impact on service personnel + veterans harmed on duty (Armed Forces Covenant)

2. Claimed justification

Here's the email I've just sent my MP (Mel Stride) and Ministers at #DWP and #MOD

I'm looking for an online calculator to calculate interest owed and and includes BOE base rate changes (i.e. rates and date of changes)

- Amount owed
- Date debt owed from
- Annual interest rate (on top of BOE rate)
- Debt settling date (e.g. today)

If not currently available, could someone create such a web page?

I could imagine it helping many people.

Life lesson

When fixing squirrel eaten house electrical wiring, get an electrician to soon check it out.

Rather than leave it a year! 🤦‍♂️

(Even if, when they do come round, they find your (ie my) bodge of a rewire to be perfectly safe - phew!)

Copyright infringement on the printing

But then again, how far would the adage of all publicity is good publicity get you in the courts?

Can you imagine the admin team’s grumbles at having to store and distribute them all?! 😂

But hell yes, I love the idea of taking out diabolically annoying merchandising in your rivals’ names!

I thought you were one of a kind Jacob. Disappointed to hear a concept such as a rival exists in your world… 😉

Dutch family visiting UK: bring bags of liquorice and Verkade biscuits. All much appreciated.

We’re soon doing the return trip.

And I’ve no idea what right gifts are…

Marmite? Earl grey tea? Scones and clotted cream? Tunnocks tea cakes? (My vote, self-enjoyment-wise is on the last one). 🤷‍♂️

Im grateful for when I find a law firm’s pen lying around at home.

I will have zero gratitude towards any law firm’s kazoos they my children find lying around my house.

End of.

And there was me preparing myself for tales of Roman horses and train track widths… 😉

Researching Misconduct in Public Office

Anyone got a copy of/link to Ball (2015) - unreported - as related to Bishops of the Church of England being held to be public officers?

Key takeaway from this week’s reflection:

NHS: “we need to generate efficiencies”

Me: “I can show you externally provable figures on 625% system and commissioner ROI for work we do.”

NHS: “if only someone had examples we could use. No-one? Ah well, we’ll have to go elsewhere for ideas.”

And “QLR” will for me always stand for Queens Lancashire Regiment or, if feeling less considerate, the Queens Last Resorts… 😉

As someone unfamiliar with the family court and QLR in this context, I really enjoyed the post.

ICO orders DWP to

"disclose the list of all AI tools DWP plans to place on the Algorithmic Transparency Recording Standards Hub"

I.e. publish details of all the AI they are using unless there is a valid reason to keep it secret

Anyone got any statistics on the number of people in the UK retired from different industries / gov sectors?

E.g.
Teachers - X million
Police officers - Y million
Farmers - Z million

At this stage, I'd be happy with it just for gov sector roles.
