Something I realised with textures like the paint splatters as stars here, it looks less busy when you apply a mask that removes the splatters that are close to edges.
Here I just used the magic wand and then roughened the lines with a filter so there are no straight, sudden cuts.

Had a nervous breakdown that knocked me out of most social interactions for the weekend and I feel slightly better now... just in time for work!! Thank god this didn't affect my ability to rest through the weekend before a VERY stressful work week hahahahaha HAHAHAHA
