While yet a boy I sought for ghosts, and sped
Thro’ many a listening chamber, cave and ruin,
And starlight wood, with fearful steps pursuing
Hopes of high talk with the departed dead.

I saw a post on IG of Millennial parents complaining that their kids don't like "Hook." Which I find funny because, (unpopular opinion incoming) if you're not viewing it through the lens of childhood nostalgia, that movie is objectively a trainwreck. I have sort of a love/hate relationship with it..

This must be a massive disappointment to people who irrationally expect McDonald's to have standards.

"Wow, I can't believe that terrible company that sells garbage food to poor people used AI in their ad."
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

Will Arnett was on Conan and told a story about how Conan dealt with the death of his parents by accusing Jason Bateman of killing them. It’s so funny.

I thought I was going to have to leave the house today, but it turns out I don't have to. #blessed

I'm going to celebrate with a nap.

Not really a low bar, I guess. But it's certainly damning with faint praise. I've never read Dan Brown but the general consensus is that, if nothing else, he keeps you entertained. And Harry Stephen Keeler's prose is never boring, but that doesn't necessarily make it actually good.
Also, "never boring" is an insanely low bar for prose writing.

Damn. I usually listen to my music library on shuffle when I'm reading and a Mavericks song came up the other day. I hadn't heard anything about Raul Malo in a while so I looked him up and found out he had cancer. And today I woke up to this. RIP.

Where the hell do they even find these people? I refuse to believe that people this tonedeaf and self-involved actually exist. I think the legacy media corporations grow them in a lab somewhere in Connecticut or Marin County.
Possibly the only thing more freakish than Nuzzi's prose is the contortions her defenders twist themselves into. "She's not just hot, but she definitely is hot, while also being a vulnerable smol child. Also, criticizing her is sexist."

For some reason some of my posts lately have been getting a lot of responses from people I've never interacted with before. Sometimes these people feel the need to tell me that they think that the thing I posted is Wrong and, I gotta say, I am not a fan of this.

That hunter got a shock, when I went and called him doc, and started munching beta-carotene. YIPPEE!

They need to teach instagram's algorithm to stop suggesting that I follow members of my family that I don't like. There's a reason that I don't already follow that aunt that I haven't spoken to in twenty years and who never even sent me birthday cards when I was little.

Happy birthday to Tom Waits.

Really cool to be reminded of how many people I follow on here are Waits fans, even if there isn't much overlap in our musical taste, otherwise. Waits is one of those artists that a certain type of person just "gets" regardless of what musical background they come from

To anyone who’s not really familiar with the goofy Santa lore, the songs must sound like, “Love this huge guy, hiding in the pipes. Giant god in my house, he wants his bisque. And he’s kissing my family, he’s kissing my family. Is he supposed to?”

I was thinking earlier that the cool thing about sleep is that it has all of the advantages of being dead, but you can still get up and have a snack occasionally. Then I realized that's also what's cool about being a vampire 🤯

Was I not born
to walk in scorn
where others walk in pride?
The Maker marred
and, evil-starred
I drift upon his tide
Which lines of poetry live rent-free in your head?
