It's hard to see the front of it now, but it's cool to see how much those trees have grown in the last 22 years.

A) That's not what being homeless means.
B) If anyone deserves to actually be homeless, it's him.
C) I gotta admit, the idea of vacationing in Cyprus and going to a nightclub for some light entertainment and fuckin' Kevin Spacey walking out on stage is kinda hilarious.

Maxine is a contender (full disclosure: I couldn't remember the name of this character, so I googled "grumpy woman comic"):

Okay, this is a pleasant surprise. Genuinely didn't expect any trace of this building to still exist. Looks like it's heavily renovated, but I'm happy to see that they kept the central structure.

there are 4 types of guys online. no exceptions

Wow, it looks so much better now. Sad that it got to that state of disrepair to begin with.

Still there. Wish they had kept the blue trim, it looked so much better. But still, beautiful Art Deco building.

Interestingly, the painting that inspired this poem wasn't actually by Da Vinci. It was by an unknown Flemish painter, but was mistakenly attributed to Da Vinci for years.

I immediately thought that it looked like a door on a ship. Turns out the whole building has a nautical-inspired look:

Oh, this is wonderful. The building is still there, and the whole thing has a nautical-inspired Streamline Moderne design. It's about to be fully renovated:

Quite possibly the worst band/song name combo ever, at least from an SEO standpoint.

Looks about the same, even down to the window a/c unit in the building on the left. The center building looks like it got new windows last year. The building on the right is cooler, too bad it got mostly cut out of the original pic.

OMG I just found out the author of the Miette tweet is going to be at the Portland Book Festival! (I guess she's also written a couple of books or something IDK).

My userpic model, Robert Bloch had the same idea in an article from 1962:

(There's no evidence Lon Chaney actually said this though)

By the way, if you ever find yourself in Ojai, CA (her hometown) you have to visit Bart's Books and Boccali's restaurant. The former is one of the coolest bookstores on earth and the latter is an Italian place in an old farmhouse surrounded by lemon orchards. Their strawberry shortcake is absurd:

"Murder By Death" has been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid and has profoundly shaped my sensibilities. But it only recently occurred to me how utterly insane that cast is. Capote, Lanchester, Winwood, Niven, Smith, Faulk, Sellers, Walker, Guinness, Brennon, Coco, Cromwell.

Complaining about something you bought completely of your own free will and that you refuse to get rid of because you think it solves a problem that doesn't actually exist is peak 2025.
Knocking still works.

I always find it fascinating to stumble upon the social media accounts of people who are genuinely mentally unwell. I'm not being snarky or insulting. It's legitimately interesting to me to get a glimpse into the minds of people like this. They have 11,000 posts. Paranoid schizophrenia?

That cover is awesome. It's giving 80s/DnD/choose your own adventure vibes.
I used to love these books when I was a kid.
