I officially survived my first week back at work. I'm making a little less than the job that laid me off, but I have about a third of the responsibilities, so I think I came out ahead.

Today was my first day back at work after 2 months of unemployment. I have a sit in front of a computer job, but I am out of practice!

New year, new job!

After a 2 month hiatus, I go back to work on Monday! I'll be doing exactly the same type of work for the same client agency, just employed by a different company.

Ok then!

I walked past Leslie Odom Jr in Shuberts Alley as he was headed to the Richard Rodgers and I was headed to dinner. I should have said hi but I just kind of froze instead.
Please quote this with the time you didn’t interact with someone famous - eg one time I was in Cardiff the same weekend as Willem Dafoe (but I didn’t see him or even know he was there until he appeared on the telly later)
Please quote this with your major interactions with massive celebrities. eg “I was married to the pope for fifteen years”

BSky friends - does anyone have a walking pad they love (or one to avoid? I want something I can stroll on while watching TV since it's too hot to walk outside about 9 months of the year.

#UglyDogs Today is Charlie's 10th gotcha day! His plans include demanding all the mama snuggles when he's not barking at the appliance repair guy & the kids who have the audacity to play in HIS street.

I got laid off and didn't fall into the depression pit!
At this time of “LOOK WHAT I DID LAST YEAR,” let’s do something different.

Not: I WROTE A BOOK; I BOUGHT A HOUSE; I WON AN AWARD

Rather: something small you’re proud of.

I’ll start
I’m better at having “no f*cks left to give”
I stopped owning other people’s judgements of me
Most of the time

You?

Thoroughly enjoyed this thread!
I have a long-running list of surprising eponyms, and in this dark time I wish to share my amusement with you.

To clarify, an eponym is something named for a person. “Newton’s Laws” are called that for Isaac Newton. A surprising eponym is just that.

So, let’s begin.

I got a job offer today, contingent on govt award of contract (normal in my line of work). It's a step up in title but not responsibility, & a minor decrease in pay & benefits. I'm going to take it because I don't have a partner as backup, but I was really hoping for a position to be excited about.

And if you're not sure when your last TDaP was, get one, especially if you're going to be around a baby. 10 years is max, not a minimum!
This is caused by adults not maintaining their pertussis (whooping cough) vaccines.

You should be getting a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine every 10 years.

We have a baby coming in the family (my first grand nephew!), so my husband and I both got vaccinated this week.
Third unvaccinated Kentucky baby dies of whooping cough.

Pertussis, best prevented with a vaccine, has killed three Kentucky babies in the last 12 months.

We buy prepared turkey from a restaurant and use our energy on sides & desserts.
Actually in the spirit of this conversation, what’s a decision you made about a past Thanksgiving holiday that really paid off? I think people often feel trapped by their lives. Sharing our experiences can liberate us from that sense of claustrophobia.
On the most recent episode of VIBE CHECK, we answer listener questions about Thanksgiving, most importantly “do you go celebrate with the family members you don’t even like?”

I went to grad school straight out of undergrad because I didn't feel ready for the "real world". Did my PhD in pandemic influenza but knew by the end lab research wasn't for me. Graduated at the end of 2009 (swine flu pandemic) and got a job with a government contractor (1/2)
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Please send me your good vibes - I had what seemed like a really good interview today for a role that could have been written specifically for me. It's a tiny company, so there's a chance salary and benefits don't line up, but if they do, this would be a step towards exec team for me!

@tonichelle.bsky.social You left your weather at Disney! Please return to claim it 😂

I was ready for cooler weather, but it was 80°F on Sunday and I would have liked some of the nice in between temps first!

Survived week 1 post-layoff. Managed to keep myself in a pretty good routine. Applied to a handful of positions and had phone calls with 2 contacts at a competitor of my previous company that currently has the contract I ran for 3 years. All I can do is keep plugging away!

Please, if you follow through, go further south and leave Jacksonville alone!
Need a tracker of the public figures who said they'd leave New York. It's put up or shut up time, man. Are you turning Jacksonville into a global financial hub or not?
