Marty Supreme is extraordinary. Frantic and relentless. Feels like it can be read more than one way; you could make as strong a case for loving it as for hating it.

Had the chance to see Meet Me in St. Louis (1944, Minnelli) on the big screen tonight. A first-class, candy-coated, golden age musical for sure ... But I was amazed to find it’s also complex and real and funny, and even, in certain moments, totally modern.

A masterpiece. Not just one of the best Canadian films of all time, it stands alongside any of the great Westerns from Ford or Hawks.
On this day in 1982, The Grey Fox premiered in Canada. The film starred Richard Farnsworth, Jackie Burroughs and Wayne Robson. It was based on the story of robber Bill Miner. It was nominated for 13 Genies and won seven. It also earned a Golden Globe nomination.
