I make video essays on YouTube. Sometimes.

New video on Outer Wilds. I examine the game from a design and philosophical perspective, attempting to place it among similar games (Majora’s Mask). It is also a meditation on loops, liminal spaces, and the distances we travel to arrive where we are meant to be.

I have finished recording narration on the next video essay. It is a retrospective, of sorts, on the Resident Evil games. Hoping to have it up sometime in December or early next year. :)

Random, maybe, but if you're looking for help on a video script you're cooking you should reach out to @writingongames.bsky.social. they are very thoughtful in their feedback, very affordable, and great to work with.
Like, my belief is that if you're working with someone, you want the best for them at all times. When it comes to individual client work I make my services as affordable as possible because I know how tough it is to just make shit. Sponsors, on the other hand, are hell for someone like me lol

Might get roasted for this but... I see some people annoyed by Silent Hill f's English dub. Someone mentioned that it was way too dramatic, borderline camp. I dunno though. It kind of reminds me of the original series in that way?

NEW VIDEO! The world of Mafia: The Old Country is beautiful, but it does not breathe. It is a postcard. It isn't to be conquered—it's barely to be touched. Some see it as a flaw when compared to more open crime games. I think it is *the* thing that makes Mafia feel so... honest. Let's talk about it!

I forget the last time I've been so hot and cold as I am with Alien Earth. Love every third scene. Hate every fourth or so. Really didn't care for the last episode (episode 7) or the first two. Thoroughly enjoyed most of episodes 3 through 6. Alien costume looks dumb. Mase-man out.

they should remake Drakengard on UE5, it would be the only time in history it would be appropriate for a remake to also run like shit. the moment is yours, Square. the perfect remake is possible.

NEW VIDEO! Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

Told myself my codec vid would be my last Kojima post for a while, but I played Metal Gear Solid Delta and, well... I ended up having some thoughts. Here's a review of a remake that is indeed Just MGS3, for better and worse. Enjoy!

I am still working on a new video about the Resident Evil series. It will be a longer one. I'm hoping to get it on YouTube before RE9 comes out next year.

I've slept on "Atlanta" for too long. The TV Show. Not the city. I've never been to the city.

Accidentally got to my showing of Weapons on time. These freaking commercials are out of hand.

Game of the year? Believe it or not, Donkey Kong Bananza.

Ya know, I didn't really care for that Mario movie.
Worst movie you’ve seen in the last 10 years?

DK Bananza somehow got Gamecube vibes and I love it

Switch 2 is probably the first console where I'm more excited to play last gen's games than anything new. Not sure what that says about me or the Switch 2.
July 9, 2025 at 9:57 PM
Best GDQ run so far? Blue Prince bingo probably gets my vote. Loved the energy.
July 8, 2025 at 6:25 PM
Favorite part of GDQ is looking at the schedule and finding a block of 4 or 5 game I've never even heard of.

NEW VID! Death Stranding 2 walks on decaying ground. Structurally almost identical to the first game, it also features more references to Kojima's prior MGS work than ever before. Through this lens, let's analyse how the director has crafted his most earnest meditation on grief to date. Enjoy!

I think, as you get older and start to grapple with how temporary this all is, you start feeling something like FOMO towards things that actually matter. Like finding Magic The Gathering Final Fantasy Collector's booster packs for msrp.
Might just be getting older but the Switch 2 has me experiencing the least FOMO of any mainline, numbered console release I've been around for. People are enjoying their time with it, that's cool, but at the moment I'm kinda viewing it in the same manner as the PS5 Pro or something

28 Years Later is okay. Solid 7 or 8. Feels like the start of something instead of a complete flick. The ending's gotta be one of the weirdest creative swings I've seen in years from any media.
