Really wild to see this termed as a "rival" situation because Novo is a pharma company that actually developed and manufactures the drug in question for highly regulated distribution to the public and Hims & Hers is a uhhhh telehealth company selling unauthorized gray market versions of Novo's drug

I am hearing that RFK Jr.’s minions are going to go after HPV vaccines. I’ve got problems with these people and now you’re going to hear about them, first from a personal perspective and then from a professional one.

It all boils down to this: WE HAVE A SAFE VACCINE THAT PREVENTS CANCER.

And now @ronfleix.bsky.social showing is how we can overcome the diminishing returns of drug development leveraging AI and well-chosen data and experiments, now that the « easy » diseases have been « addressed ». Stay tuned for curing cancer 🩷💚🩷

I cannot tell you how absolutely infuriatingly this stuff comes across to Europeans.

When we say America is no longer a reliable ally, it goes considerably deeper than Donald Trump himself. This kind of complacent, condescending shit is a *huge* part of it.

Which makes sense, if the neighborhood is not walkable or affordable you're isolated and have almost no services (because the folks providing those services need to be able to afford being around)

I love having foodstuff shops, restaurants, cafés and bar near me, which means employees there
A Washington Post article suggests that, beyond a certain threshold, larger homes don't make people happier. Instead, well-being is correlated with affordable housing in walkable neighborhoods where they feel socially connected.

I think it’s bad that Everything is Scams now
As Japan’s population ages, families, banks and lawmakers are grappling with how to protect seniors’ assets from the effects of dementia — and prevent trillions from slipping out of productive use.
Japan’s ‘Dementia Money’ Is a Warning to the World
As cognitive decline spreads among older investors, nearly half of Japan’s GDP is increasingly vulnerable to mismanagement, fraud and inactivity.

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

tomtom-lite is a re-implementation of tomtom targeting the ML age of genomics. Fast annotations ("what is this motif?") and simple large-scale discovery of motifs.

Check it out!

I am seeing a lot of posts about Rosalind Franklin that themselves ignore her publication record on DNA!

In fact Franklin and Gosling's paper, including the famous Photograph #51, was published, along with Wilkins's paper, back-to-back with the Watson and Crick paper in Nature in 1953.

building housing reduces the cost of housing, period, whether it's luxury or professional class or "affordable." when demand exceeds supply, people who can afford better settle for something less, pushing everyone else further down. just build housing! JUST. BUILD. HOUSING

It's not necromancy, it's postmortem communications
Speaking with the dead, or necromancy, is explicitly forbidden in the bible multiple times
Churches showing an AI Charlie Kirk telling congregants, through an artificial voice, not to let evil win is a new level of instrumentalizing the dead.

When Trump goes, I think we’re going to see the same thing. Visions and AI slop will abound. Prophecies and messages from beyond the grave.

I think we should bring back actual drawings, and take a picture / scan !

What's the point of wasting 2 days making a pretty svg of something that takes 5 minutes to draw with a few sharpies and a notebook, that doesn't create anything new
Begging scientists (and media posts about science) to stop using ChatGPT-generated images

RFK Jr: Have you seen THESE guns ?
RFK Jr., Hegseth and Duffy are doing performative public workouts instead of their actual jobs and, what's even more pathetic, they are not remotely good at working out.
