Since a lot of folks have suggested ableist alternative words let’s chat about this:

Intelligence is not something that can be measured without employing bigotry and it’s not something that determines a moral compass or good vs bad

So any word at all that uses intelligence as an insult is ableist

I’m seeing increased use of this word and I just want to gently suggest that if there’s one word you can manage to remove from your vocabulary it should be this one.

It was coined by a eugenicist who used it as a diagnosis to forcibly institutionalize and sterilize mentally disabled people.

I really wish that more of the response to the whole Greenland situation was "Greenland is already colonized and cannot gain anything from its colonial rule being switched from one malevolent racist nation to another."

Kalaallit, Inughuit and Tunumiit should be free, autonomous people.

We put our Christmas tree out for collection on time but I haven't had the execute function to clean out the tub it was in, and it's gotten a deeper rust shade every day so that now I'm tempted to pilfer some more branches and do a proper dye bath

✂️ Yesterday I finally responded to @agakowalska.bsky.social’s challenge to make a collage from a single piece of packaging. I present to you a green (tea) woodpecker, made from a big Yorkshire Tea box. It was fun and I’ll be rooting through our recycling bin for more materials later on ♻️

I have never seen any Kaiketsu Zorori but caught the run of the game at #AGDQ2026 and could not stop thinking about the lil boar guys and then looked at felt ornaments and, well,

I’m trying to develop some new vessels/forms this year & my first one is big slab-built jars that are also sort of little narratives (at least the medieval sea one definitely is…I suppose the story of the seal one is ‘seals are pretty’ 😂)!

Exceptionally swirly frost this morning.
Frost on a car roof (1 of 4). The frost has arranged itself into arcs several centimetres long, stacked against and around each other. More surely frost. Here, very long, curved fingers of Friday mostly radiate from a central point. The overall effect is a bit like a beard. More swirly frost. Here, the sunlight is catching it in such a way that it looks a bit like a lunar landscape. The curves are interrupted by grains where the frost has apparently decided to grow upwards and out, rather than just sideways. More frost swirls, this time on a black roof for added contrast.

Xmas decorations are down (except for fairy lights which enable us to function through winter) so the swan has joined the Certified Little Guy shelf, which reminded me... what if I make a dun horse version of the ox (think Lascaux/Przewalski horse) for the Lunar New Year
