He is a computer safety researcher.
And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

I fever-dreamed that I was doing an anthology of stories inspired by "The Corrections" for its 25th anniversary. None of the authors chosen to write stories had ever read it, and they didn't bother telling me because they needed the money. Their stories were brilliant and nobody ever knew they

It's funny how laser weapons in sci-fi are associated with "kids' shows" because of the way a lot of media historically used them as an excuse to avoid blood and gore, when the reality is that a pulse laser weapon used on a human being would be almost unbelievably gory

This article alone has 4 examples of ChatGPT encouraging young people to commit suicide, and OpenAI’s own public stats estimate over a million users discuss suicide with ChatGPT each week.

I fully believe in the corporate death penalty and believe we would be a better world if OpenAI lost its corporate charter and was forcibly dissolved.

James Watson, the sexist racist who stole Rosalind Franklin’s ground breaking research on DNA, created his own (sadly widely believed) genius mythology with a popular book, is dead.
In case anyone is wondering if Watson was really THAT bad, @lpachter.bsky.social compiled a list of quotes that are absolutely not for the faint of heart.

David Eddings has a US Kindle book on sale today, and I won't be getting it for two reasons: first, he's a mediocre writer at best, and everything after the Belgariad didn't even reach that level; and second, he and his wife abused their adopted children so badly they were convicted for it.

Every time I see an antho call that uses an AI image, I want to take a shit on a piece of paper, somehow scan it (maybe using the scanner at work), and send it in as a submission. I'd have done more work on my submission than you did on your call.
