My first postdoc preprint is out!

Upon starvation, the Vimentin IFs network rapidly compacts (in <15 min!) to "cage" ER-Endosome membrane contact sites. This spatial confinement is crucial for autophagosome biogenesis.

Peroxi_SPY probes were designed for peroxisome live cell imaging. Turns out they work with fixed cells as well!
Peroxi_SPY can thus be combined with immunofluorescence labeling.

Reversible One-way Lipid Transfer at ER-Autophagosome Membrane Contact Sites via Atg2

Important study!
Authors identify PDZD8 (renamed LYVAC) as an ER-anchored lipid transfer protein.
In response to lysosomal osmotic stress, it provides lipids to support lysosome swelling.
Unlike ATG2, LYVAC does not supply lipids to damaged lysosomes.
LYVAC/PDZD8 is a lysosomal vacuolator
Lysosomal vacuolation is commonly found in many pathophysiological conditions, but its molecular mechanisms and functions remain largely unknown. Here, we show that the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)–anch...
