Absolutely do NOT give your ID or face scan on Discord. It's even worse than expected. Apparently due to people bypassing current systems, they're switching to "persona" which is funded by fucking Peter Thiel.

This is something the Nazis used to do to Jewish children in the camps. It happened to a man I knew when he was a child in Auschwitz. The camp guards thought it was funny as hell.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

This is a well written, logical discussion on whether the US is in the midst of a genocide

😣
As a human rights lawyer, I cannot ignore this potential conclusion.

Genocide is defined in binding international law. When evidence suggests conduct falls within its scope, we have a duty to examine it, not dismiss it reflexively.
Is The Trump Regime Committing Genocide?
From a human rights legal perspective, the facts we know reveal a frightening conclusion we cannot afford to ignore

I read the Trump-backed voter suppression bill, the so-called “Save America Act,” so you don’t have to. Here’s my summary. Please tell your Senators to vote NO on this abomination: 202-224-3121. TY. 1/

Just going to note again, because somehow we've all completely retconned this and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, that pound-for-pound Biden had one of the most draconian border security regimes of any U.S. president ever, second only to Trump, *many of whose policies he inherited and kept*
Not going to read them all because jesus fucking christ but this is nasty work from Friedersdorf

I have searched and can’t find where any rationale was provided by the governor or the bill sponsors for this exception

Had anyone seen any explanation from Newsom or other public officials?

This isn’t sitting right with me and I’m looking for facts (I’ve heard/read the speculation)
An important part of this legal ruling is that California under the anti-mask law treats its own officers separately. That was a last-minute addition by Gavin Newsom. Now it got the law thrown out.

I tell you what, Ring figured out exactly how to weaponize white people’s empathy in service to a corporately controlled surveillance state.

That was hands down the best halftime show ever. It was filled with so many references to Puerto Rican culture and history. The sugarcane fields, the casita, the streets of NYC, and the power lines. All of it resonated so much. Boricua por siempre.

Yeah no one should be giving this “journalist” access to shit

Fuck this shit
Something that would be fascinating to cover, but something I am not personally sourced for, are the arrests of activists or press by federal agents. I did try staking out one activists home, but she was arrested at a hotel instead.

There is room for all sorts of tactics. Don’t get sucked into manufactured infighting and waste energy infighting. Spend it on the fight

No Cop City, No Cop World:
Lessons from the Movement has essays from groups w/ different motivations & tactics. They were united in the desired outcome

Do that

Anyone who supports LA hosting the 2028 Olympics is either:

- misinformed
- not from here
- rich and wanting to get richer off the backs of working class Angelenos

It has already started to displace community resources and it’s likely to leave our city with huge debts
"The decision on whether to try to cancel or renegotiate the terms of Olympic hosting depends on which you prefer to risk: billions of dollars in losses on hosting the Games, or billions in penalties for not hosting them."

A new @saje-la.bsky.social report by @neildemause.bsky.social is a must-read
A city that can't win
LA has limited options to get out of hosting in 2028 — but LA does have options
