The interesting, sophisticated thing about games is not whether they can tell stories as well as books or movies (they can’t) or float shocking themes as well as fine art (honestly, who cares).

It’s the manipulation of systems, the play of contingency, the brokenness of machines.

i think the healthiest diagnostic i ever did was around 2004 realizing the Blue Party would rather the Red Party win than pass any legislation that benefits working people and, as a 17 year old, determined i would never vote for either national party. If it doesn't work: discard it.

The entire pundit class has convinced people for so long that their “analysis” was somehow necessary and valuable when in reality it was just a con game to manufacture consent for bias-confirming “strategies” that only benefited the capitalist class and guaranteed pundits career security.

i'm glad Mamdani is likely to win but honestly the DNC should be, as an institution, Old Yellered as soon as humanly possible so people stop investing so much energy into a party whose primary successes are being incapable of learning from defeats or victories and avoiding popular decisions

Who wants to fill out a questionnaire about running a Troika megadungeon in-person play campaign? It would be a HUGE HELP if you took 5 minutes and gave us some opinions. And an even BIGGER help if you shared this to whatever UK folks you know.

Every social media company: hey most of our users hate each other what if we gave them better ways to ratio each other in this crab barrel
Users: could we just have a QoL improvements?
Social Media: look we're competing with the shell of Twitter in a psyop space that's pretty well mined...

This was a Golden Age, a time of high adventure, rich living and hard dying... but nobody thought so. This was a future of fortune and theft, pillage and rapine, culture and vice... but nobody admitted it. This was an age of extremes, a fascinating century of freaks... but nobody loved it.

Henry Ford should probably be one of the most reviled human beings of all time an enemy of all living things. i'd rather be a Luddite than a simp for a capitalist whose attacks on labor laid the ground for the ghoulish nightmare hellscape of the U$A

me, about to go into grad school: sometimes i rerun the coffee to save money
my friend who went to HVAC school: i own a house and car but also all of my body hurts all the time
our friend working in a kitchen: check out what happened to my palm from shucking oysters
all of us: smoke
this is actually a solid case study in why ‘just go into the trades’ is a bunch of foolishness: if you don’t know how to think or organize your thoughts or god forbid memorize then you’ll be just as much of a failure in jobs that don’t require a college degree as you will in jobs that do

Feels like such a trope-y answer—like a metal guitarist saying "yeah it's both our heaviest & most melodic album yet"—but it's also true.
Next year is bleak AF & Electric Neon.
