Let's be extremely clear about the type of website monodoweiss is, however much people want to say "No, they have A Jew, so they're not antisemitic". If you use it as a source, you're antisemitic trash.

This is exactly how Obamacare passed, for the record. Multiple House members voted for it knowing it would wipe them out in the midterms, and parts of it have proven quite resilient.

But this requires sacrifice from Congress out of a sense of public service. Oops.

it is true that Lizza is not an entirely good faith actor himself; it is also true that this is a massive journalistic scandal of the kind that gets no attention because it implicates the entire decision making process of the powerful. www.telos.news/p/part-9-cov...

The deck is stacked in about 10 different ways to give extra power and money to rural areas, but it's never enough. Right wing propaganda continues to tell them they are out upon victims powerless against the mighty cities.
Stage 5 pundit-brain is watching an innocent woman being killed by agents of the state and going, "hmm this says a lot about the urban-rural divide in America."

Entire thread is pretty much correct in that historically, people have chosen to have kids when the opportunity cost for having them was low and Western fertility will increase only if it finds a way to replicate that while continuing to treat women as people
Nobody really wants to hear this but the only even remotely palatable solutions to the "birthrate crisis" involve penciling in substantial technological change: artificial wombs, at least somewhat automated childcare, etc

Imagine surrendering so much potential housing to NIMBYs that adults have to live like this.

Man, remember when it was a big scandal that Barack Obama associated with a preacher that said "God damn America"?

If and when It Happens, this moronic gutter trash will have the ear of POTUS.
If ilhan Omar had a "favorite philosopher" who said something like this, the media would literally hound her into resigning. But they don't even report on the fact that the sitting vice president loves this guy, a disgusting anti-semite
Quick question: what the FUCK?!?

Amazing how interviewing a subject that knows what they're talking about actually provides useful information. not just bloodsport of someone flailing around (from a journalist actually doing something scary like asking a follow-up question)

Corollary - very very few people are smart and dedicated enough to be "independent thinkers". It mostly just means you derive identity from being an extremely basic contrarian

While it's not nearly as heartwarming, this description of Hex is a reminder that Prachett absolutely nailed LLMs way before Google put a single dollar into researching them

He's actually got a point on the second part - any plan that drives down the cost of personnel, which I can only assume includes M4A, is going to have to come with a big student debt bailout, especially for doctors.
Are you ok with rich people having access to the most expensive doctors and hospitals and you don't because the gov won't pay for it or they opted out of the Universal care program ?

Do you think it's right for doctors and nurses to only work for what they think is a living wage ?

This post is about California NIMBYs, IE the people who voted hereditary feudalism into being with Prop 13. The "lived experience" they want to preserve is their own home prices going up and everyone outside the nobility can go hang.
While @resnikoff.bsky.social's article has some valid criticism, part of the challenge underscored here is that the YIMBY movement needs to continue to engage with justice orgs and listen to the lived experiences in dialogue. Swooping in and telling communities what to think is the wrong approach.
