I’ve started listening to the audiobooks from the Heated Rivalry universe, and the narrator in the first couple of books makes some truly unhinged choices. Shane’s parents, famously of Ottawan extraction, both sound Texan? Kip sounds like a New York mob boss?

I was distantly aware of the Lewinsky scandal, but the first news story I really remember following was the Elian Gonzalez scandal. Followed shortly thereafter by the Bush/Gore election fiasco in Florida.

You know, I didn’t appreciate it when I was there because it was 90 degrees outside, but one area in which Japan really got it right is the heated toilet seat.

I never have any desire to own a record player except during Charlie Brown Christmas season. It is, to me, the spiritual embodiment of analog music and I am cursèd to listen to it via something known as “Bluetooth” on a “streaming service”

My solution to daylight savings time is that from November-March we spring forward every day at 2p (everyone gets out of school/work earlier) and fall back every night at 2a (everyone gets an extra hour of sleep). This solves both the sunset and sunrise time debates, while only creating minor chaos

now granted there was some dumbassery involved in that fire, but there is also some dumbassery involved in delaying essential restoration works for decades
