Thank the Conservatives for cancelling the Arrow (CF-105) to please the Americans. The engineers then moved down south. The CF-105 (a late 1950's plane) had an enclose missile bay like the F-35 and was flying faster than Mach 1. The Cons killed the Aviation industry on Feb 20, 1959.
