As he did with the Ontario Science Centre and Ontario Place, Doug Ford is ignoring a majority of public voices (98% against) in pushing ahead to sever 60% of Wasaga Beach from provincial park protection and privatizing it.

Conservatives don’t govern. They monetize.

Funny how that's exactly the shortfall in funding transit turned out to be.

This is one of the most important posts you’re read and share in a while.
A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.

The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

One thing I can tell you for certain is that at least some scientists inside Health Canada are alarmed by this proposal.

And given that it's part of the GoC's 'red tape initiative', I'm very worried that this mechanism will be used to justify job cuts to Health Canada's core scientific staff.

This is a BIG deal. I've emailed to ask for any info pertaining to where the standards might be housed, but not holding my breath.

The standards include items such as the design of containers that pull dangerous goods on railroads, and the testing for lead in gasoline. Flammibility of mattresses..

I teach bystander intervention for a living and have taught de-escalation to law enforcement.

Trust me when I say that bottle girls, gas station clerks, strippers, front desk employees at hotels and airports, baristas, etc. have better de-escalation skills than any cop I've ever seen.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.
