I am in my kitchen in full view of the front door. As a precaution I have a note on the porch door asking DPD to be sure to bang on the inner door. Yet miraculously the driver has determined I am not in and taken it to the drop off point. Absolutely useless.

Every time we rescue an orphan, we think of what the future can hold. 19 years ago, little Loijuk’s life nearly ended just as it was beginning, but some compassionate people changed the course of her history. And now, because of that life saved, Loijuk leads a whole new generation in the wild.

We had a lovely evening at Snape Maltings last night listening to the marvellous Grimethorpe Colliery Band perform Christmas songs.

What a wonderful bunch they are. Fantastic, festive, brass music, delivered with great humour.

They also have a Great War connection as they were formed in 1917.
