I use uBlock Origin with most of the built-in filter lists active. I manually add filters all the time (not just for ads, but also for other annoying things.) Anti-Adblock Killer does what it says. Sponsorblock skips Youtube ad reads. TwitchAdSolutions skips those ads. Blokada stops most on my phone

Early in high school, a friend lent me Leather Goddesses of Phobos. It was an Apple version, I couldn't play it at home, but it was just a text adventure, so the Apple IIGSes in the school library worked. There was no internet, but it had InvisiClues.
In retrospect, I don't remember giving it back.

I saw someone call Ai a Thneed and I can't stop thinking about it. It's a PERFECT analogy. The Thneed was an all-purpose tool that didn't do anything really useful. It was a fad that did major damage to the environment to make the Onceler a billionare. It left no real lasting impact, only damage.
