If you can, keep showing up for your community by shopping local and supporting the small businesses that anchor our main streets and enrich the cultural fabric of Minnesota.

Just moments ago the parkway was TAKEN OVER by winter cyclists. At first I thought hundreds, but they just kept coming. Thousands and thousands! I almost cried. I’m so dang proud of MN right now.

This is Minneapolis.

So damn proud of this place. Easily the largest group bike ride I've ever seen of people showing up for the Pretti-Good Memorial Ride. Huge thanks to all those who did logistical work, marshalled, and showed up for justice.

As an ex-vangelical, this makes me think of what I believe is more likely the real story (if there is one) of Jesus feeding the masses: he didn't magic that shit-ton of loaves & fish into existence from a handful, he drew on a community's good will to short-notice feed and care for each other.
I mostly just stay off Twitter altogether but after double checking that the Walter Hudson post was still up I ran across this and just had to share so the Romancelandians who bought hand warmers could hear about the PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS.

He spent decades bringing the religious right to power. Now he's marching to undo it.

Rev. Rob Schenck spent decades helping build the Religious Right—commingling church and state to advance conservative causes. Now, he says he must confront the damage he helped cause.

Again, I know it’s persnickety, but I want to emphasize that Alex Pretti was not “showing up at a protest,” he was driving around the city as part of a community-led first responder network. He was likely carrying a gun the same reason anyone does: he felt like he might encounter an unsafe situation
The party that has spent unlimited resources and energy getting states to pass laws to allow citizens to openly carry loaded weapons anywhere - now believes that exercising this right is permission for law enforcement to murder you.

Honestly, how dumb do they think we are?

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

They think they can provoke us into abandoning our values. They are wrong. We will keep the peace. We will secure justice for our neighbors. And we will see this occupation end.

Before you say not all churches, just remember Germany and the participation of the Church, both conservative and liberal, in the rise of fascism.

I ask, "What does the Church want out of this cooperation?"

I think it's power, ultimate rule and dominion over the all the earth.

As John the Baptist's head was given up to Herod to satiate Herod's anger for being confronted with the truth, so the Church is in danger of giving up its Head to cooperate with the powers. If it hasn't already.

I understand it's scary for us all; but it's vital to remember that 'don't comply in advance' isn't just a slogan, it's a practice.

These orders are manifestly illegal and unconstitutional. Acting as if they are not is what will give them power. Trump has issued his writ--now let him enforce it.
It seems to me (not a lawyer) that it would be unconstitutional to put me in jail for calling a student what they want to be called. I don't say this to minimize the danger, but to remind all my teacher friends that we aren't required to follow unlawful orders
Here it is. This is abominable.
