On #NationalScrabbleDay, this periodic table shows what every element's name would score during a game.

Can you spot the highest scoring elements and the only element that scores the same as its atomic number? www.compoundchem.com/2019/07/07/p...

“Out of a clear sky you send broken heart emojis”

Zaffar Kunial’s brilliant, confronting poem is scored into the scarred, scoured, “jagged blooded” heart of this ongoing moment.

First written in May, but—as Israeli strikes kill 12 more in Gaza today, mostly women & children—it bears re-sharing.

Bluesky is built to make social more like the Web again, so we will never suppress links. Link to your writing, your art, your personal site — this is the social internet, designed from the ground up to be open and interoperable.
Hard to describe as a journalist how grateful I am to have a text-based app that does not suppress hyperlinks. I don’t know if people realize exactly how hostile the corporate internet has gotten toward news.

Always remember that "woke" was a phrase that was used to bring awareness to racial and social issues...and then the culture war clowns hijacked "woke" and bastardized it for their own agenda. "Woke" is not the issue; the disinformation and misuse of "woke" IS.

Apparently I was the 9,092,294th person to join this app.

Perhaps one day this number will be meaningful.

I have found here most of the people I enjoyed over on the bird app. This makes me unreasonably happy.

I do not understand why my feed is so full of pizza. I mean, the pizzas all look fantastic, but what in my preferences suggests I want to see pizza?

So I’ve been here for a weekend, and it feels - in a good way - like the bird app did in the early years, before the trolls and the bots and the ads swarmed in. I wonder whether that will last?
