Protect trans kids. Trans rights are human rights. She/her. I haven’t got time for hate. In Saskatchewan, but I wish I was on the coast.

Danielle Smith Displaying citizenship on drivers license is Alberta’s version of apartheid. All provincial programs are equally available to citizens and permanent residents. There isn’t one true reason for this, other than populist nativism and shunning of newcomers.

The right doesn’t need to know the identity of Kirk’s assassin to blame the left.

They kept blaming the left for the assassination attempt on Trump even after the shooter turned out to be someone who was mentally ill but registered Republican.

They’re just flatly asserting he was a leftist now.

I do not understand the mindset that makes liberals express sympathy for someone who would have absolutely celebrated if the roles were reversed, like bro, have some god damned self respect

My trans son has had to lock down all his social media pages due to the amount of death threats and anonymous hate messages he’s been getting since the hate-mongering nazi was shot. I fear for trans people today more than ever, particularly those on the US.

Telling your queer kid they can't be queer doesn't change the queerness. It just means they make community online, turn 18, and you become the abusive relic of their past who refused to love them for who they are.

"Why are “travel disruptions” the only part of this Air Canada story the CBC deems worthy of coverage? What about union busting & expecting a whole cohort of women workers to perform unpaid labour? WTF. How do these people think strikes work?"

Air Canada’s CEO gave striking flight attendants more reason to defy a government order to go back to work.

On BNN Bloomberg, CEO Michael Rousseau says the company didn’t make provisions for passengers with cancelled flights because it assumed government would enforce Section 107 to end the strike.

Tell you what.

Let's not pay the Air Canada executive team for a while. Like, say a few months. I bet the airline keep operating just fine.

So who's the essential workers who deserve to be paid and who's the useless overhead now, huh?

people don't strike because they want to inconvenience their employer for a little more cash.

they strike because management is doing a shitty job and work conditions are bad.

flight attendants deserve to be paid for their labour.

When it is "hundreds of thousands of Canadians are being disrupted by a strike." it cannot be tolerated.

When it is "hundreds of thousands of Canadians are being disrupted by cuts of Customer Service Staff." that's just good business practice.

The independent tribunal that administers Canada's labour laws has deemed the strike by Air Canada's some 10,000 flight attendants illegal and is ordering workers back to the skies.

Air Canada strike:

“We’re going to stay committed to making sure that those workers can do the job that they love doing and actually be able to afford a roof over their heads, to afford caring for their families,” CUPE president just said.

“If it means folks like me going to jail, then so be it.”

I’m ABSOLUTELY outraged on behalf of the Air Canada flight attendants. The company has not bargained in good faith because they knew that @pattyhajdu.bsky.social and the government would legislate their workers back to work.
August 18, 2025 at 5:09 PM
ALSO. @pattyhajdu.bsky.social - stripping workers of their right to strike is a real bad look. Maybe rethink that.
August 18, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Like, FFS. Why is this even a thing? If people are doing labour, they get paid. I’m genuinely confused.
August 18, 2025 at 5:06 PM
Hey @aircanada.bsky.social - unpaid labour is wage theft. PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR LABOUR.

It’s really that simple.

""Canadians have already sacrificed a lot in this uncertain economy…"

Apparently Hajdu thinks Air Canada staff aren't also Canadians who have sacrificed a lot… and that sacrifice includes countless hours of unpaid labour that Air Canada benefits directly from.

Forcing them to binding arbitration when Air Canada has done nothing but negotiate in bad faith only benefits the corporation, not the works.
