Even if Trump sends out a $1000 check, or even $2000, how is that going to help if your health insurance cost goes up by 100% or 200%?
Where does the other 10 thousand dollars (or more) come from?
It's rhetorical.
The rest of the money comes out of your bank account.
Or you go without insurance.

Many of us said it was a bad idea to let this lying incompetent psychopath be president.
But too many people just wouldn't LISTEN.
Every day is another round of insanity because people would not listen to reason.
November 28, 2025 at 3:58 PM
Yes.
This has been a huge part of the problem from day one:
The pathological lying.
to keep functioning society must discourage baldfaced lying, especially by authorities
I wrote about a novel approach to tackling misinformation currently being discussed in Wales--and which some say Canada should try, too. What if we made a rule so politicians couldn't lie? www.thestar.com/politics/fed...

This might be some of the most aggressive questioning Trump has faced from the white house press.
Usually reporters are too timid to do follow ups like this.
I hope to see more of this in the future.
Q: Officials say the suspect in the DC shooting was vetted & it came up clean

TRUMP: He went cuckoo. He went nuts. There was no vetting

Q: Actually, your DOJ IG says there was thorough vetting of Afghans. So why blame Biden?

TRUMP: You're just asking questions because you're a stupid person
November 28, 2025 at 2:25 AM
What this psychopath doesn't mention:
These "territories they currently hold" is....THEIR COUNTRY.
If only OUR psychopath president had the stones to tell THIS psychopath president to take his shit and go HOME already.
Then this stupid war will end.
Putin told reporters that the fighting will end when Ukrainian forces withdraw from the territories they currently hold.

Trump care = death and bankruptcy.
Worse yet, they say, it’s coming even before cuts to Medicaid in President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act take effect and the potential expiration of Obamacare subsidies at year’s end. The charities are warning of exploding medical debt and lower survival rates for diseases like…
Politico on the rising number of Americans facing catastrophic medical insurance costs: "The Trump economy is not focusing on the root causes of why health care costs are so high in this country."

190 THOUSAND Afghans will now have their lives upended.
AGAIN.
And none of this had to happen.
November 28, 2025 at 1:40 AM
Old guy is getting worse daily.
Not only is this unpresidential behavior it's stupid.
A reporter asking a completely logical question about why + how this killer was granted asylum by his administration is just doing their job.
Calling reporters stupid for asking logical questions is itself stupid.
“You’re a stupid person” — Trump lashes out at a reporter who presses him on the fact that the suspected DC shooter was actually thoroughly vetted before he was let in the US from Afghanistan

What a f**king nightmare this is all going to be.
C'mon food coma.....take me away.
November 27, 2025 at 7:44 PM
What makes me doubt a neat conspiracy explanation?
It would require the trump regime deliberately assassinating United States national guard troops.
Yes, they are fascist psychopaths, but this would be a new level of behavior.
Unlike what we've seen so far.
Doesn't mean it didn't happen but...
I tend to cringe at conspiracy theories but...yeesh.
This situation certainly invites them.
The thing that makes me doubt them is that the regime is very clumsy and to orchestrate this exact series of events seems to require some finesse.
But who know?
They definitely wanted violence.
Beyond that..?
November 27, 2025 at 4:53 PM
Utterly bizarre (and destructive) situation on so many levels.
Could come down to a personal beef between an Afghani soldier who fought on the side of the United States in the war, was brought to the U.S. after the withdrawal.
Did he come to a breaking point when the trump regime reversed policy?
This is being framed as a response.
Rather than a cause?
Revenge for betrayal?

The folks at @afghanevac.bsky.social have in hand a new USCIS directive which largely targets Afghan refugees who fled the Taliban in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal in 2021.

In case you needed a reminder that the most loathsome people in the world work for DHS.

People in NYC (and I suspect many other places) are so used to not cooking that they've lost touch with just how expensive ordering in actually is compared to making something comparable yourself.
It's like....orders of magnitude.
the dirty secret here is you could probably make the sandwich for $2 at home anyway.
DOORDASH: imagine a $12 sandwich

ME: oh dang that sounds so good

DOORDASH: now imagine that it could be yours for just $37
November 27, 2025 at 4:50 AM
If anyone feels like playing hardball, it will be useful to emphasize that the trump regime *VETTED and APPROVED FOR ASYLUM this shooter* in 2025.
They looked this guy over and said "looks fine".
Then they filled DC full of National Guard guys who look fresh from the war on terror.
CNN on the D.C. shooter: He came here from Afghanistan in 2021. He applied for asylum in December 2024, went through another vetting process, and was approved for asylum in April of this year under the Trump administration.
November 27, 2025 at 4:44 AM
Agree in principle.
The problem is I don't see Putin having any problem just keeping this war going for years.
He literally doesn't care how many Russians die or are injured.
Now his ego is at stake to a terminal degree.
Very tough to get him to just go home now.
Esp w patsy trump in power here.
The war will end when Russia stops fighting. Therefore, pressure has to be put on Russia, so that they stop believing that they will win. Why is that so hard to understand?
November 27, 2025 at 2:06 AM
Fairly of not, this particular incident is also connected to fallout from the Afghanistan war.
The shooter was part of this U.S. government operation.

November 27, 2025 at 1:26 AM
I have to agree with this.
Trump and his allies very much wanted this kind of incident to occur.
Now they are sending in 500 more troops, hoping for more of the same.
And then more crackdowns to follow.
Fomenting violence to justify police state tactics.
The shooting of two Guardsmen in DC is a tragedy.

It is also EXACTLY what Trump wanted and was waiting for.

No POTUS has ever so premeditated getting our troops shot at for the sake a personal ambition as brutal as it is demagogic, dictatorial, and illegal.

This is on (a) the shooter, (b) Trump.

Inadequate mental healthcare.
Too easy gun access.
Almost always a factor in these situations.

Magas will weaponize their own power against their own families.
There's no line here.
Just do whatever they can and want to do with whatever power is within reach.
Corruption, petty grievances, whatever.
I think we can safely say that the Leavitt's brother called ICE on his ex, the mother of his child, and I have to say: I have no desire to respect, find common ground or share the country with these monsters.
“After Ferreira was detained, Dos Santos Rodrigues said Michael Leavitt Sr. and his father, Bob Leavitt, reached out to her.”

“‘They just kept saying, ‘Tell her to self-deport,’” she recalled. “Self-deport to where? Brazil is not her home.’” www.bostonglobe.com/2025/11/26/m...

One thing I see constantly confused:
Housing targeted at people who can pay, say $1000-$1500 a month.
And those who require, essentially free housing.
These two populations have perhaps SOME overlap, but it's important to distinguish the use cases.
Or else the solutions will fail.
Cities need well managed SROs AND supportive housing.
Not the same thing tho.
If they get confused then troubles arise.

The only thing which springs to mind is that networks get handed over to people like Bari Weiss when they want to die.
In no universe is putting decrepit annoying Alan Dershowitz on screens going to "work".
This is the sign of a company going into terminal irrelevance.
Appealing to nobody.
American journalism will be saved by…87 year old Alan Dershowitz?
That’s the big idea to help turn this ship around?
😂

It’s both comical and dystopian.
Americans hate each other so readily that it is seen as gig work.
“Make Americans fight online for $10 an hour! Work from home!”
