Christmas came early this year! Very happy to see our paper out in Science Advances. Led by @lfoswaldo.bsky.social, we ran a unique collective field-experiment on Reddit, to better understand who is participating in online debates and why.

The New School for Social Research proves that quality trumps quantity. Despite its small faculty, it leads the world in essential, high-impact heterodox economic research and political economy. We must work to preserve this irreplaceable institution. (1 of 3)

Speaking as a private citizen on a matter of public concern, yes leadership is apparently planning to cut 50% of the faculty at the New School for Social Research in order to eliminate social research and replace scholarship with a trendy MA degree mill For the 21st Century 1/

I'm struck by this as well and it extends to most people I know over, say, fifty-five who don't have a special interest in the Middle East.

They learned a narrative as young people. No number of new data points seem to sway them from that narrative.

Of course, this isn't limited to Israel
The highly educated 85+ years olds around me simply disbelieve that Israel has turned into what persecuted Jews 80 years ago. I spell it out for them, fact after fact, but it is too big to swallow. Lifelong othering of Arabs doesn't help. Changing attitudes towards Israel has to be generational.

I added a Thanksgiving twist to a classic “gün” spread: apple crumble pie, cornmeal muffins, carrot & yoghurt dip (havuç tarator), potato salad, red pepper mezze and “kısır”.

Americans are growing more socially isolated and politically divided.

Our new paper in Applied Network Science suggests these two forms of disconnection may be linked. People with denser, more connected social networks often feel less partisan animosity.
